JD Custom maybe not in 1 hr for me as im a novice to TIG, but im sure with about 30 tungsten tips already ground up and ready to change over when you foul them, it wont take as long. I hate welding alloy with only a few tips as when you foul it you got to grind it back which lenghens your welding time and productivity You could also use a MIG with special wire/gas to weld alloy - the finish isnt as good as a TIG but you will be able to cut labor in welding by half, however production costs might rise. As i said earlier, the plenum isnt really much of a restirctive design if you put an XF throttle body on it. I have heard from a friend that recently modified engine with standard VL turbo plenum, head (with aftermarket cam) and standard exhast manifold with t04 flange adaptor, with STANDARD throttle body, on a bog stock motor internally apart from the cam+valve springs mentioned pull 250rwkw at Bresciani. XF that throttle body and you would get a lot more Top end power, maybe to the tune of 20rwkw. Jamie, when you get your flowbench - put some engineering in your plenums and see how far you can optimise the design.

the long runner plenum made an extra 35rwhp on the same boost with no other mod's. just read last years and the year before sc mag and the articlse with the NSW Holden Vs Ford. There is proof enough for the long runner plenum. In 2002 show car made 354rwhp (also on sc dvd/video #1 silver vlt) and then made 383rwhp in 2003. no other mods were carried out and all of this on only 16psi. if i show you both the graph's you will see there is more in it as air/fuel ratios in 2003 were around 11-11.5:1. short runner plenum results will be avaialbe in a month or so. trust me i will keep you updated. i have the 2002 dyno sheet and when i scan the 2003 one scanned i will put them both up. jdcustom - considering my car is making 15-16hp/psi, theoritically my car will make around 460rwhp on 33psi. lets not forget, std internals std exhaust manifold, std head, stage 1 crow cam (jpc) and a baby turbo. but then we get into discussions on turbo trims etc and this will never end. it is obvious people see a good product when they see one and if a couple of melb guys finish their cars we will see the finish result. i am just waiting on some feedback on one of the cars tuners. i have a suggestion, is anyone willing to offer a jdcustom plenum for dyno comparisons (or any other major brand) ?
