Hey Jetwpn, spewing about the canary mate, i got one on my old na vl a few years ago mainly because i didn't have permits for my extractors and steering wheel. to make sure i went over and got the permits, they told me the 'fray' in my seatbelt was too bad (though i never changed it when i took it to the pits!!!!) and slapped a sticker on. country cops- b@stards. i ended up getting a permit for my extractors- cost $33 for the permit($50 to take it over the pits)- they told me i didn't need one for my wheel.
i took mine to welshpool- the inspector offered to buy it off me!!!
But now that i've got the turbo, im in the same boat as you (plus prob all the other guys on here) and was thinking about trying to get some permits. i had a look on the transport wa page yesterday, but vehicle mods they describe are pretty general and i got the feeling that half of my stuff isn't 'legal'. But let us know how you go- if you pass is the most important but also if you get any permits and what you manged to get them for. i would be very interested to know.
Cheers mate, good luck

whoooa, well it went pretty well guys, went through the pits today at oconner, went through with my front mount on catch can and AVO intake manifold with 2 extra injectors plus strut brace and steerin wheel, he didnt give a f#ck, iv got get my exhaust pushed up abit higher and all my tint has to come off.
so i got off pretty easy and he told me the only thing u need a permit for is a blow off valve, but only for a silent plumb back one,
im still gonna try get a permit at welshpool for my turbosmart type 2, ill just turn the boost rite down so theres no no pressure, no pressure = no noise, so mite be able to get it. ill get me tint off on sunday and me exhaust is gettin done on monday, and then ill get the yelow off.
i reckon an easter cruise would be pretty sweet, see how many people are up for it!

Nice one mate, i bet thats a load off. your car sounds very similar to mine, im surprised that they didn't worry about all those other mods- glad though. is your catch can vented to atmo or plumbed back into air circuit? i have to vent mine because as i have told you guys before, she blows oil like a mother and it just gets sprayed out of my BOV- yeah, its that bad i have a type 2 as well, so let us know if you can scam that permit.
not sure about easter, i will finally be back, but my brother is driving back home from wagga wagga and i might be flying over so i can do the drive home with him. hes got a vs acclaim with C.C so that should be pretty sweet. speaking of which, are any of you guys running different throttle bodies? i have an xf and the sacrifice with that is that there is no spot for the cruise control cable, so its not hooked up (not that i ever have much need for it anyway) just wondering if you guys have made any mods?
anyway, congrats on getting rid of your canary. im sure i will be trying to do the same thing sooner than later as well
