I guess the 1.06 would perform better on the twin cam head? True, .82 suits the 3L motor better, from information on the garret turbo pdf file. Garret call this the GT35R turbo.

HSVSUX: This sounds like a plausible answer to the chat you and I had about your dyno findings the other day. LukeVL: Cheers to your turbo knowledge. I know what you mean about "taking the liberty" - sometimes I do the same. We don't always make friends by doing so, in my own experience anyway. I like Brents approach - the bugger knows stacks but he's got more self control than me, and often keeps his mouth shut... or if he does open it, it's a very controlled response that questions without ridicule. I'm learning.

So I guess the .63 is rated at 500hp? I think I would stick to the .82 since from what I gathered, it matches up with a RB25DET. I would still like to know what the power band looks like on a RB30 with the different GT35R exhaust housings...

Its the exhust housing that changes the rating, all GT35 exhust wheels are same size. When my turbo came from Garrett it came with a 1.06 in the box, JPC had a spare .82 housing in which I watched it get fitted and it was just matter of changing straight over no other mods.

lukevl i dont believe i have acted like a tool at all, i stated that if you could show me otherwise, than i was convinced that the .82 was a 600hp! HSVSUX agreed. now HSVSUX has cleared this up for us hasnt he? and in regard to this last part,
I hope form here you can appreciate that there is more to turbochargers than just 'Heaps of lag bro' and how much HP you make (although we do love HP). There was no need to get stroppy and abusive as this is not what these forums are about. You will get banned if you carry on too much. These forums are about posting what you know or have heard and comparing to other responses. Like for instance, I was about to write in response to Brent's last post: 'Well, that would be where all the confusion is coming from (Garret catalogue), now we know what the deal is.' But instead you acted like a tool, so I took the liberty of shutting you down. Thanks for the info Brent.
im not ur bro! i didnt get stroppy and abusive(believe me im not like that), and i wont get banned because ive done nothing unreasonable. please note, where you wrote; These forums are about posting what you know or have heard and comparing to other responses. i think you just contradicted urself because thats exactly what i done!! no hard feelings OOH30T Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

This is how it went - Myself and Brent relayed what our turbo suppliers told us. We never swore black and blue that it was the truth, cause we don't know! We only have information from the suppliers and thats what we said. You come in saying that you know best. Your input is not in the same league as the replies in this thread. I only responded in the way that I did to let you know that you never know who you are talking to or what they have done/know.

guys i think its just try and learn in this kind of dilemma u can never know unless u try the turbos like HSVSUX did and learned the differences on the dyno which i think is the best way to work out whats the difference and whats best for ur setup, we really shouldnt b arguing here cause someone might prefer the 0.82 then the 1.06 or the other way around its really what suits you and everyone has there own little theories and thats fair enough but theres no need to have a huge argument over it just try it and learn as u go

what are on the xr6's exactly? i know they're an internal gate, but supposedly basically a .82 gt35/40 with a smaller exhaust wheel? has garrett used these wheels in external gate versions creating confusion? lukevl do u have any measurements on the different wheels?

Nah I only have a GT35 with the 0.82 exhaust. I have never seen the different versions, I am only going by what my supplier told me. Garrett told me that the XR6 turbo has different wheel designs adn everything. I should imagine that the wheels and housings are different to what they sell aftermarket.
