I really like your dash man, I was thinking about doing the same thing but couldnt find any info on the net..until now!! Was it hard to put the dash in and was it a straight fit or did you have to modify anything? Do all the sensors (speed, rpm, fuel ets...) work properly and do you regret doing it? Very interested, reply via PM if you want. Nice car, well done!

I painted the bumpers and the lower calais mouldings on saturday and they look better than the car i believe. Ive done them in gunmetal grey instead of asteroid silver, but i think its going to look smick. Regarding the dash, ive driven around quite a bit, but had a bit of a scare recently where the car didnt change from 1st to second when i took it for a good boot. Im not sure if it was the trans playing up or the signal from my speedo to the trans computer, i have to test it still a bit more before i consider doing a few of them. Thier no point in doing them if their not reliable. Hey man. Thought i might add a comment here. It might not be your dash playing up although it could be. But i had the same problem you described for a while (Since i got my P's bout 5 months ago). Sometimes when i thrashed it it wouldn't change into second. I went to an autotransmission place and they told me the transmission was on the way out and there was nothing i could do about it. About 1 1/2 months ago i stuffed my auto up and had it rebuilt, etc. But yeh it could be just your transmission and nothing to do with your dash as i don't have a modified dash like you just the stock one.

Ok to answer your question Fly_by_vl it was a ******* of a job and took alot of modification to get it in thier and fit well. All sensor work except for the trip computer, i believe i just need to put a wire in from the ecu to make it work, but thats for later down the track when the premilary testing is done. So far its been very reliable. the conversion requires a good working digital vk dash as they are extremely hard to repair once modded. I not sure how accurate the speedo is as i havent been on any main roads yet, but that will come in time. I dont regrete doing at this stage, but time will tell. If it becomes unrelaible then i will unplug the whole unit and plug my original calais cluster back in. Thats the bueaty of it all, at the moment its a plug in plug out job, but if i add the trip computer wire then it wont be able to be done anymore. And to answer your question airbagedVLT-wagon no im not going to airbag it this car is very original and dosent have any holes cut where they shouldnt be, i think im going to keep it that way. Im not even sure if ill install a cooler yet.

I would like to believe what your saying dragme but the auto only about 500ks old since full rebuild, so i doubt very much its that. But ill stick my other cluster in for a few days and try again, cars not registered yet so it makes road testing very hard.

Just thought I'd let you know I have the same problem/situation with my auto, it's new, I had it rebuilt like 4 months ago. When I got it back I noticed that when it's in auto and you gun it totally, it revs out first way too high... so basically i've never done a full throttle 1st to 2nd shift with the lever left in drive. I always manual shift if i'm flooring it... 2nd to 3rd in drive is cool, i'm just too scared to leave it in drive for the 1-2 shift, dunno if its ever gonna happen, but I don't wanna be the first person to land an RB30 conrod on mars cheers Jay Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah my auto does the same thing, it revs out heaps when you floor it in D and then doesn't want to shift into 2nd without backing off a bit. :\ I figured it was just rooted heh. (and still think it is ) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
