Save yourself the trouble and take the engine straight to Haddad Race Cars and Engines.

I have noticed Big George Haddad takeing an intrest in RB30's of late. He also plays with Autronic ECU's so he ain't no amateur. Check out his cars and customers cars all though the majority of them are V8's.

He says, I say, They say, its all heresay Look into what kind of rb30s the workshop has produced, the price and if it was a guy off the street or a promo car with the works. Ide get a quote from pretty much all workshops quoted here and go for what you think is right. Be sure to tell them EXACTLY what you want (forged and fully reconditioned bottom end on standard linshed/shotpeened rods for example - keep it bottom end specific to get a price, then ask how much to port and flow the head and assemble the long motor?). By telling the workshop exactly what YOU want you can accurately compare the prices etc. You really need to find out how much its going to cost you all up and how much green your willing to fork out. Some places have a low price so that you go to them instead of others, but once they have your car/engine, they tend to jack up the price to the right price and you cant do nothing about it. If you want to go forged, factor in around 1300-1800 for the pistons and rings etc. The head doesnt really need to be extensively ported that much, just reshaped for better flow and you might as well slide a cam in it as well. Red RB30 Jet, what kind of aftermarket bearings are available for rebuilding RB30s that can and will withstand high power/abuse? Whats wrong with the ACL ones (any bad reports etc?). Long motor rebuild with a new turbo and fuel system can cost anyware between 6 - 10k. Cheaper if you dont upgrade most engine parts and chase performance obviously, but how fast you go really depends on how deep is your pocket when your outsourcing work. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks mate.... yeh im going the works on the bottom end, the only thing is i probably wont touch the head for a bit, just get it running back on the road. Bresciani have said 5k, everything forged, shot peened etc etc. new 8ltr sump and oil filter etc just no head work as yet.

darkstar, There are King and the genuine Nissan bearings for rebuilding RB30's. ACL's should do the job. Me personally I don't like ACL products I actually work for a division of ACL anyway these days they pay my wages , I see how badly the product is treated, Not to mention the warranty returns on gaskets, piston and bearings. Far from quality stuff just the reason why it's so common is because it's plentiful nearly every auto shop sells it and it's resonably priced. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
