18-11-03, 21:18 GMT+10#21 Ehh i wouldnt go the VT there a slug. A VT SS, S or BT1 V8 would be OK cause they are kitted out a bit better. A 97 VS with low kms (V6 or V8) would be wiser, better fuel economy & performance as the VS's are lighter.

Suss out insurance FIRST!!! No use buying a car then finding you can't afford to insure.
Other subjective comments:
1. VT etc IMHO are too bulky and heavy
2. early ECOTECs had a bad reputation
3. VR is practically identical to the VS apart from the engine, is cheaper and has less likelihood of engine problems, at a minor cost in fuel consumption
4. I still think the V6 is a heap of sh*t and I'd rather go for a V8. However, you'd be using I gather c. 15% more fuel and some people reckon the V8s don't handle as well due to extra weight over the front end. And you'd probably pay more for insurance...
5. Zoom earlier this year had a four-part series on putting an RB25DET into a VR. With the right rear axle ratio that could be a very nice combination (especially with an RB30 block!).
6. Off-the-wall possible alternative: VP Calais? Still has IRS, has more equipment than you'd get from a VR or VS at the same price. There was a really nice V8-powered limited edition.
