with ls1 edit any genIII can be looking at 300kw at the flywheel with an exhaust. I think you'll need more than a zorst & some boost to keep up with them

ok i have beaten a CV8 monaro amongst other genIII's with my car. it had 3" mandrel bent exhaust with custom dump pipe from turbo, hi-flowed T3, flowed standard injectors, 9 psi boost, cool air induction pipe, slightly higher compression. it's a 5 speed sl with no lsd. seemd to do the trick Dan.

Gen's are ****, heavy oil sucking, piston slapping claggers. Just wak on a exhust some boost and a cooler and you will rip one.

I think what 87_devl means is that, Ford's 6cylinder N/A will be just as powerful as the GEN 4. The ability to turn off 4 cylinders for fuel economy?... You sure it isn't for oil economy. -- I find it funny how people compare their car to an HSV, or compare power to a GEN 3. If you're going to compare your car, compare it against something half decent. HSV's may look nice and all, but personally I think you'd have to be an absolute dumb **** to buy one. As for the GEN III, hahaha - you may as well compare your power to a Ford inline 6cylinder.

As for the GEN III, hahaha - you may as well compare your power to a Ford inline 6cylinder. You obviously have no idea whatsoever..... A gen 3 with LS1 edit, exhaust, maffless tune, CAI, larger throttle body and a few other little things can pull low 13's, high 12's no problems. Can you do that with an inline ford 6??? www.chipmaster.com.au (http://www.chipmaster.com.au) if you don't believe me. I have seen this car run and it sounds mint . It has 251.2rwkw, and ONLY the above mods... The motor hasn't been cracked open, and the auto is stock as a rock... LS1's are very badly de-tuned from the factory. All HSV do is re-tune the cars a bit more for each new one to get 5-10kw.... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

LS1's are extremely awesome cars when it comes to bang for buck, just wait as the first model gen3 in the vt ss start getting cheaper where most of us can afford one and to mod it and there will be heaps of quick genies around.

but still even when they do become cheaper, VX SS 30grand now days, the GenIII's have still got the oil burning problem

Dont you have to take in consideration, that it is 2 different tpyes of power? One being naturally aspirated the other being forced induction? The power from a forced induction car comes up a lot quicker then that of a n/a. But i think it would be a good run: A vl turbo with 3inch exhaust and 10-12psi VS A Gen3.
