IMO it will be same as with many innovations. the ones who start it (in this case ford) are popular for a minute but the next ones to follow learn a lot from the innovators who launched a completely new product and the innovators usually get a raw deal. i dont think holden is too worried about ford at all, they have both been developing turbos for years, ford just got theirs out first. personally i would much prefer a 3.6L AWD turbo from holden than a BA, i just trust holden to do a better job...

I like cars no badges also, but wheres the fun in not having a grudge against fords. If you own a holden isn't in mandatory to give fords crap? haha, on a more serious note, somebody said above that Ford has no visual appeal, I'll agree, they looked stupid to start with and they probably always will, mind you I don't mind the GT, and the xr8 would look damn nice if done right. And considering holden had lost touch with their styling, I'm just glad they are finally coming back to some better shapes. I mean, Personally I think the vt is a damn ugly car. It looks to dodgy with a spoiler, and without it even looks roundish and dodgy. Its just too round- needs some boxyness, a tiny bit to give it a bit of shape. I personally have never been in an xr6t or similar, but Im sure they'd be a damn nice car to drive, and would love to have one compared to alot of new holdens. But when your buying a car you still go through your lists of what you want, what you need, what its got, what it looks like, you don't necessarily go for the badge first.

I think it the era you are brought up in. At 37 I would rather build a car for the money a new car costs. At this point of time it would be a LJ Torana with VL RB30 block RB26 head with twin turbo,s. Or a 1932 5 window coupe with a Gen 3 running gear. New cars just dont interest me. With Fords I think they lost the plot when they stoped building V8's, now they are paying for it at the moment. But I will give em cridit for the model A, 32 5 window, TE Cortina and the GT XB. Holden on the other hand its easier to name the car's I dont like from them, FX, EJ, HD and HT. But then again I only read one magazine and thats Street Machine. Where as most of you younger guys would be reading the latest high tech mags. Its just the times we live in........ and I still hate Fords.......... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I love how in a thread called HSV vs FPV there was only one post referring to an actual HSV and an FPV. All of the talk about an XR6 turbo is irrelevant really, considering it's a FORD product and not FPV. Second to that, Ford aren't in real strife, and they havent ATTEMPTED to beat Holden, if you'd like to go back to when BA versus VY first started (this is aside from HSV VS. FPV talk) you might remember how many different ways the Fords absolutely kicked Holdens arse. I remember a certain MOTOR or WHEELS article that had the following comparos: BA XR6T versus VY SS - Winner: XR6T BA XR6 N/A versus VY S/C S - Winner: BA XR6 BA XT versus VY Exec - Winner: BA XT BA Fairmont Ghia versus VY Calais - Winner: BA Ghia So really, Ford haven't really put in a lost cause, the weight of the vehicles is the only thing that's not doing much for them, weight aside the competition would be really hotting up. Might I remind you in terms of sales, it's only been since the arrival of the AU Falcon that Holden have had a substantial lead, none of this 2 decades bull****. Either way, the one eyed beliefs and opinions about Ford from Holden fans is just stupid IMHO - I don't think its really called for. I do drive a Ford and I love it, and for what it is right now, it has wiped the floor with a few Holdens which makes me feel good.

Endurance racing GTHO Phase 3 vs GTR-XU1...the GTR XU1 winner thats 351 V8 against a 202 6cly Drag racing GTHO Phase 3 vs E49 Charger...the winner both 14.9 thats 351 V8 against a 265 6cly....... the last 5 years Bathurst Holden first and in a lot of cases 2nd and 3rd This argument has goin on for decades

For $30,000 to $40,000 I could build my own car that would out perform them all....and would look a hell of a lot better and still be a individaul. I'll stay out of it then............sorry

OMG! I can't believe people think they engines in current Holdens are good... the Gen 3 is alright (if you like using more oil than fuel) and the V6 is average at best. Holden make great cars but crappy motors, hence why a VL is the only post 70s Holden I'd consider owning. Quote: I believe these new BA's are just a fad which will fade out in time as the Ford engineering in this country has no substance really like Holden who who have invested like over $400,000,000 in this new V6 motor in a new plant at Fishermans bend and all of the R & D into the motor, new things (for Holden) such as variable valve lift which has it over VVT and an all alloy motor which is lighter, more powerful & fuel efficient. No substance? Ford just built a whole new 6 cylinder for the BA. Holden an ancient V6 from america, chucked it in a car and hey presto. Same deal with the Gen 3, they don't even build them here. The 300kw HSV engines are just calloways. VYs are ugly as a bag of arseholes to boot. I'm not a huge fan of the BA rear end but it looks better than a farkin MAGNA rip-off. Stop using some rumoured, undriven engine as ammunition for your ford v holden argument anyways, it pointless until it's in the car. Quote: Style, class and performance that's how i describe holden. Dude, you drive a VT! What about Camiras, do they epitomise stlye, class and performance for you too? I really can't see how people can give a flying fark about ford v holden. Enjoy your car, get over it. Relax, rebirth. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

HAHAHAAAA what a quality thread. I just read a magazine and it say bla di bla bla, the magazine is the bible and i will always refer back to it. Yeah the 6cyl engine is an ancient design, but hey it works doesnt it. Can you say 500hp at the treads with stock bottom end and upgraded valve springs. This is with pure bolt on mods, intake, cooler and exhaust + a tune. Can your fantastic holdens handle that, I doubt it. We are talking current cars by the way, oh but the new V6 turbo is going to thrash the Ford, where is it? I havent seen one... OH wait it doesnt exist yet, my bad... I wouldnt want to buy any of the new cars, there all slow n poxy, I could build one better. Are you just saying that cause all you can afford is a bunky VL? and to build the 'dream car' would take 10yrs of putting away coin? Oh I've never been in an XR6t or a falcon for that, but there real **** ey, slow, oh yeah dont forget the gearbox (the auto has handled 30,000km to my knowledge of dyno tuning, cruising, drag racing, burnouts and its pumping out 500 ponnies, but hey its a ****ter of a box) The manual is a bit notchy and will not cop with that kind of upgrade. Does your stock auto or manual hold even half of that power, I didnt think so. Now to the real topic at hand, HSV vs FPV (plastic fantastic vs subtle looking beauty) Well to start with Ford now produce the most powerful V8 in Australia, the GTS is no longer, which means 285kw to HSV and 290kw to FPV. FPV weighs a lot more than the HSV equivalent so thats is why its a tad slower to go down the qtr, last time i checked theres no actual qtr mile strips on public roads, or the ability to drive on the road at 155+ kmh. But ya can do that in the NT, nag nag nag. The GT was tipped to have better stoppers, was tipped to handle a lot better, and the luxury appointments were also the pick of the two cars, it just happens to be a tiny bit slower on a short section of bitumen. Nag nag nag, whinge whinge whinge, i cant afford one of them so i will bag it, bla bla bla, my mummy breast fed me till is was 18, ya da ya, your all a bunch of PANSIES (well only the whinging, magazine holding, poor ******* who cant afford ****) have a nice day Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I would rather spend the money and build my own. Yes I own a VL infact I own 2 a VLET ($9,000) and a VL n/a ($6,500) plus a 1996 Toyota Hilux 4x4 ($15,500). So I suppose I could sell them all and buy a new car. However I THINK CURRENT MODEL CARS ARNT WORTH IT. I dont make statments for the sake of making statments...... ans still Fords suk...... sorry BlackOut I tried.......... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
