Not impressiv enow i think you are kidding yourself. If you have a look at what my best run was you come no where near yeah i did make changes and it was a hatch. But anyone who can get any car up close to 160db is doing something right considering what type of time you have to put in to get evrything right. I dont usually fire up except for when i have the results on the board and people try and run them down i think 158.6 is pretty high compared to 141.8. Anyone that can crack the 155 in any car i respect because although it is only SPL i know how much time and money it takes to get things right. sorry to sound a peeved off but you get that hey.

LOL u dont get it! that is from 4 15" subs and a modified interior, in a hatch back. mine is from a stock standard sedan, and single 12", single amp. i am just saying that i am not that impressed, i have seen systems that are half the size hit the same figure.

Ok, Smooth VL, I live in the ACT too and as most people know, almost every sound off we have has a terribly calibrated mic. U guys are throwing around numbers that are near OFFICIAL Australian records. What meter was it run on? I think that you'll find it was very poorly calibrated and i guarantee you that u wouldnt have been anywhere near that score on a new termlab. Its like someone else that goes around telling people that he hit 159db in his VN Calais from 2x15". It is just not true. The meter was way out and someone hitting those numbers with that gear would be a record. Im not saying your car isnt/wasnt loud, but i guarantee you it WASNT a real 158.6 or whatever you got.

i dont know if you guys actually knew, that for every 3dB you are actually doubling the volume.. so if a car has a stereo with 140dB and one with 143dB, it is actually twice as loud as the first one.. get it?

From what i understood, 3dB more is twice the power. So basicly, you double the power of your amp, you should get about another 3dB. But for the actul volume to be twice as loud, it is about a 10dB more. I got 121.7dB out of my system. (vk commodore). Its a budget system. Home made box to fix in nicely behind the back seat. Cheap ass 12" sansui D-Bass sub powered by 330Watt max amp.

3dB requires twice as much force (both mechanically and electrically) 10dB is twice as loud 3dB is the smallest change in volume the human ear can detect so a stereo thats 6dB louder than another one is alot bloodly louder. Im actually an Sq freak but im starting to get into SPL a great forum to lookup info on this kinda stuff is www.caraudioaustralia.com (http://www.caraudioaustralia.com) cheers Kirk

VL Commy: good to see you over here doing your bit. Smooth VL: 4x100, bloke, not 4 x 1000! And do some checking: half the VNET gear I've seen isn't Clarion affilliated. Go see if it's got Clarion written anywhere to make sure! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

wlavis: are you on CAA also?? Pastical: A world of difference. When u start building an SPL setup, you will do alot of testing to find the frequency that is louder than the others. You then tune your box so that it will peak at that desired frequency. If using only music in an SPL comp, the chances of you actually hitting the needed note are very low, and even then, if you run on the termlab.net system which is the newest most accurate device used for reading SPL, you will need to play that note for almost 3 secs. Not many songs will do that. Guys if u really wanna learn more about car audio i suggest you start doing some reading on www.caraudioaustralia.com (http://www.caraudioaustralia.com). I go by the same nickname on those forums also so feel free to catch me there aswell
