Thanks hsvsux ; much appreciated. I already called ABS in South Melbourne and will bring some ebc green pads in .
Will machine my rear discs in the weekend , front is good . Will also open up all the calipers and clean them , then see how we go . If needed , I will also do the master cylinder ( although I haven't done it before , but can't be that bad ) .
Cheers
Machine all of them, machined cast iron has a better coefficient of friction than glazed/smooth. will also bed pads in correctly, its important.
dont skimp on a 40 dollar job man. also try and get the machined on the car, it could save you a lots of shudder probs down the track.

just out of interest:
Bendix std = 280 degreec C max
Bendix Premium = 320
Bendix Advance = 380
Bendix Metal King = 400
Bendix Performax = 420
Bendix Ultimate = 550
EBC Green stuff = 650
as a general rule the higher the max temp the worse they work from dead cold, but the EBC Green stuffs pads will work fine from cold. the Ultimates take a dab or 2 in the morning to get them working but if you use them in the rear its less of an issue.
Cheers

What a list you got there HSVSUX good going
well the pad's i use are custom made to the type of car and to the type of rotor's i use on my car.. at this point in time they are just normal ones but soon i hope to have slotted rotor's stright from DBA and new custom brake pad's to suit them from cebco..
as to what HSVSUX has said get don't skip anything at all and get them machined on the car.. it's well worth the money..

NO probs ; the only issue is I don't have a shop that does the machining on the car ; Brakes plus is the nearest one I can reach before they all close and they take the discs off ( don't have that special lathe to machine them on the car ) .
Would it be that of a big issue if they are machined off the car ? if they are centered OK on the lathe , shouldn't be a problem ?

do you know any places in brisbane who sells em hehehehehehe j/k
is it worth putting very expensive pads such as bendix ultimates on the back due to the minimal input they have on the braking system , surely from a cost efficient perspective , there is no need for them.
probably because they are designed to work at a higher operating temperature.. but im sure u already knew that. and thats why u bought them
pad choise is very overlooked i think.
cut and paste is a great thing, lol
Rear discs actually get a hard time if you give ur car sh1t, coz they are solid they cant get rid of the heat build up, i would still recommend Ultimates for the rear if you want good brakes and dont want fade.
I'm sure its just a worn pad issue but when i break heavly, after the brakes get a bit of heat into them they start to hum. So needless to say i don't do any hard braking.
Has anyone fitted 4-pot calipers in there VL? How much do they cost?
Ok ; didn't get the rear discs machined , because they were ****ed . I bought new.
So , got new fluid running through the veins , new rear discs , and machined front discs . Already an improvement , but still a bit too soft . I just bought EBC green stuff for the front , and bendix ultimates for the back.
Will try to open up the calipers today - and inspect and clean if needed - and bleed the system again , AND put the new pads in . Should be OK after that ...
thanks alot
I just want to thank HSVSUX and the others who recommended this ; it is awesome ... The car stops indeed way , way better . People , go for this setup : EBC green front and Bendix back . But you need to clean your calipers . I found heps of rust and **** in the front left and the fluid was plain black, although it looked ok from the outside.
It needs a bit of time to warm up ; like the first 2 pedals in the morning feel a bit soft , but then it grips like nothing else.
I also have new german ( SAVA ) wet racing tyre on new 17" alloys , so yesterday night I tested it ... All I can say is that it is unbelievable how much grip they have They worn out a bit faster than normal tyres but the difference is huge...
Cheers and thanks alot .
but you can never have enuff brakes!! especially when you realy need them.
its good to see postives coming out of the forum

for sure, but I was really meaning that the std set up with the right pads etc can do very well, more than enough for the street.

That's very true . With new seals in the calipers ,new pads etc , you can lock at any speed.
The EBC green cost me 165 from ABS South Melbourne , and Bendix ultimates something like 92 from memory .
I also paid like 130 for 2 new discs for back , 30 for having the front machined , 32 for 2 seal kits for the front calipers , and arround 15 for a litre and 1/2 of brake fluid ( I also changed the fluid ) . So it is a fair bit if you add it up , but it's worth every cent.
