Had an idea today, anyone know if putting a small capacitor across the final teminals of each of the switches will extend the life of the switch? I think it will stop arc'ing of the contacts

All/nearly all centre console switches have burnt and very badly corroded contacts, they need to be pulled apart and cleaned/repleced(if very bad), and in some cases the contacts in the housing are worn that bad the switch is a throw out item!!!!!!

That particular person who rebuilt thier power window loom would be me. The wires from where the doors bend, over time fray inside and the current draw on a thin strand is too much. It took me a few days but i used ultra flexible silicone wire to do the job. Wont ever break again as this is the stuff i use to use on my radio controlled cars.

i will probably get you to do mine after xmas some time if your still doing them. you should probably start doing new wire looms for the windows too if you did i would probably take one of them as well.

I have noticed that the centre power window switch on the VY Commodores is almost the same size as the VB-VL power window switch. I dont know if the wiring on the VY switch could be adapted to the VL loom but for those that need one it might be worth a try. Does anyone know the price of the VY switch?
