summernats is in canberra, usually the first weekend of the year.. unless the first weekend is like the 1st january.. it should only take you about 7 hours to get there..

Summernat's is the best car show Australia has to offer, I go up every year with a bunch of mates all put in for petrol, motel works out cheap and party away, don't know about entering a car though bit of a travel 8 hours of driving with a trailer and car in tow. Over the years I have always driven up during the day and never seen a modified car pulled up by the coppers, seen a few speedsters and trucks nabbed but that's it. But if you do trailer your car up I to advise you to cover rego stickers up and remove number plates so as they can't get by mail later on. You know it's such a crime to enjoy spending money and time on a car these days. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey Ben, is that the same Red Calais you've had for ages in your avatar? Looks like a nice ride. darkstar, I'm still looking into costs and stuff, but I'll probably stay at one of the hotels close by or camp there. Don't know for sure yet - might even be able to scam some free accomodation with Jarrad. Yeah, I'm driving up in my car. I figured it'd be around an 8 hour drive, +/- some.

ever seen a car get defected on a trailer? due to it currently bieng registered, they can still get ya, so remove the plates and sticker

If you remove your plates and your sticker, the cops can still look up the vin number of the car, and if it comes back that its a registered vehicle they can still slap you with a canary AND get you for not displaying your plates or current rego sticker. They had this issue with springnats a few years ago with everyone trailering their cars. Even if you cover your rego plates they can still go you for obscuring your plates if the vehicle is currently registered. I'm not sure if it would rouse more interest or not, but putting you car on a trailer then covering it with a car cover might see you get passed alot of the fuzz, but on the other hand, it may rouse more interest to see you pulled over.

^ i think the answer is still yes because you are in their jurisdiction. just imagine if u drove a huge piece of sh1t which was blowing smoke eveyrwhere and falling to pieces, you would be defected. i also thought that you couldnt be defected if your car was on a trrailer because it isnt on a public road. there was a thread about this on boostcruising where the cop asked the guy to take the car off the trailer and as soon as the guy did he got defected because it was now on a public road. technically a car which has been in a crash on the back of a tow truck could be defected then
