My motor is hopefully going in around christmas time when we respray the engine bay,the RB25DE pistons do fit but 1mm has to come off the block deck,RB30-ZED who also has done the conversion took 0.8mm off the block deck as I did (or Teterin engineering to be precise) as the water jackets on the block deck start widening. I used ACL piston rings which are 1mm oversized Mitsubish 4G63 rings due to the thinner upper compression ring,ACL matched a set up for me. The power output I have heard of from this combo is like 187 FWKW with the RB25DE management but I have seen a Jap Skyline with the RB30DE fitted which put out 224 FWKW with GTR throttle bodies and an aftermarket engine management system. On the Meggala website he reckons that the R31 fitted with that motor does like 10 second quarter but he is only passing on information from another source. The RB25DE compression ratio is 10.5:1 and in regards to fitting the VVT head it is quite simple ,the only problem I struck is there isn't too much meat on the front of the head to tap into for the oil supply fitting.

Server or something. But that thread has it all. Quite a long read, but well worth it. I'll be doing a 3ltr conversion myself, to the RB25 head. Kinda the backwards of you guys. Stock heads flow upwards of 300rwkw quite well for what they are. Also you can build for a higher redline. That's the plan for mine also. 7000-7500 rpm will do nicely. Along with a GT35/40... means you get some nice figures. but the best part, is a massive rev range of power if tuned right.

i have a RB30 block with the RB25 head and a Microtech MT8 runnin the show i dunno if my block is a turbo block i dunno if my head is a RB25 or RB25DET i have no idea at all. but i heard the the power gains from the head alone is worth it. is there anyway i can found out myself if my block is a standard VL turbo block????? and the head?? if it is a Turbo block i heard the Compression is to low?? duz this mean they might have modded pistons or somthin and also wat is the max boost level to run of VL with a RB25 head?? wat extra gains would you get from a RB26 head?

The RB25DE head and the RB25DET heads are identical. Same cams, same combustion chambers, the DET has 9:1 compression, and the DE 10.5:1 compression because different pistons are used. The old RB25DE non VVT head has 248 duration cams, all the later VVT heads have 240 duration cams, lifts are the same. The RB26 head has identical ports, combustion chambers and valve sizes to all the RB25 heads, so there is NO power advantage from the head all by itself. BUT it is full of heavy duty parts so is worth getting. It has larger head bolt holes (12mmRB26/10mmRB25) Mechanical cams and lifters instead of hydraulic, better valve springs, and the exhaust valves have thicker sodium cooled stems. The stock cams are not much hotter than RB25 cams. (RB25DET 240 + 240 duration) (RB26DETT inlet 240, exh 236) but the DETT has a bit more lift (8.2mm/7.8mm) and the opening and closing is a bit faster. The inlet and exhaust manifold faces have different bolt pattern on RB25 and RB26 heads. So although the ports line up, you cannot interchange manifolds. The biggest advantage of getting an RB26 head is the fantastic six throttle body induction system, and that is where the extra power comes from, not from the head itself. Your best bet is to buy a complete RB26DETT that has spun a bearing, or has scored bores. These usually go for about $3,000 complete. Transplant the head, manifolds, and turbos onto your RB30, along with the oil pump and oil cooler and you will be set.
