Quote: Auto is your a piss weak granny Manual if your a real man lol its very much personal preference. one thing to consider is that the auto box may "soak" up a little of the power as it goes from the engine throgh the box so the power may be a little less. that s what i have heard anyway. dont know it for a fact.

Jatco auto's r gay, i hav had 3, origional 1, rebuilt 1 and and another rebuilt 1. the last 1 i had, had bigger servo's, kevlar bands, 2800 stall, shift kit and transcooler, its lasted me a month! my car is now parked up undreneath my house till i get more $$$.This time i hav chosen 2 go manual, ( r33 5 speed maybe) mx7 is on the cards, with a manual all u need is a good clutch and ur fine! i hav gotton the 5h1ts with the auto's. if u want a good jatco 4 speed u hav the hav them bombed 2 the 5hithouse or dnt hav em at all, those auto's where built for 4 cyl ova in japan. manuals dnt use as much fuel either compared 2 a 3000 stally or so. My 2c.

I'd go manual all the way unless I did alot of Heavy Traffic city driving. Which I don't. Or, if I was doing it purely for high mods and fast times. I love the feel of the manual in all aspects. I hate the sound of an auto changing gears.. Don't know why. Damn straight though I know you can get auto's that shift just as hard as a manual with a really good clutch. But its not the same. Nice button clutch that takes a punishment at the drags- just ride it out and then lay the power down. Grab second... Third.... Ahh is there anything better? Oh, another reason I'd get auto, would be if you can't drive, talk on the phone, and hold your drink from maccas while going over the speed bumps leaving the car park turning a corner and changing gears.

Atmobt1: how man ur car sounds cool with that flutter, considering ur car is an na with number plate on the side, assuming that the number plate being on the side is making that sound :-) just jks how much boost u running?

1815261, its interesting that you say "Jatco auto's r gay, i hav had 3, origional 1, rebuilt 1 and and another rebuilt 1. the last 1 i had, had bigger servo's, kevlar bands, 2800 stall, shift kit and transcooler, its lasted me a month!", as Keas has 4 speed jatco's rated at 400rwkw, and 3 speed jatco's rated at 450rwkw, I have a 3 speed, with 430rwhp, and it is simply awesome, as does cmy747 with 300rwkw and plently of street driving. They are definately a LOT stronger than a trimatic, at least, one of KEAS boxes is, they are the best in the country in my opinion, and have the runs on the board with the jatco, including building plently for the 3 big name VL places to replace "so called" big hp trimatics. In fact i think of every box he's ever built, paul has only ever had 2 failures, of which probably weren't even his fualt. Who built your box man?? As for auto versus man, I've only ever had big hp cars with a manua until recently, and i'd NEVER go back. The pain in the ass times with slipping clutchs, stretched or melted cables, leaking cylinders, crunchy gears, how quickly they wear out or get noisy with big hp, how much harder they are on diffs and axles, and lastly how much slower they are with any decent amount of power, I mean, how many Vl's are there in aus running 10's with a manual?? IS ther any?? On the othe rhand, if going around corners or roundy roundy driving is your thing, I's say manual all the way. 6BOOST Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Oh and for interests sake ive recently converted my MX7 to Jatco 4spd.... Love the stall converter and the shift from 1st to 2nd, stays right in the meat of the power curve... MX7 is a horrible gearbox I think it has the longest gear throw ive ever driven and it doesnt work well with the RB30 in 1st gear at all... in saying that I do miss winding 3rd gear out and pulling 4th at 150km/h+++ I'd consider an R33 5speed but never going back to the MX7....
