Can't be bothered starting a new thingy so i'll just ask here. On my air filter it has a plug that goes into it, like an electronic controller? What do I do with this fellow if I chuck on a pod or whatever?

Ah yes, the little temp sensor i think it is. You can mount it in the pipe somewhere after the AFM, just make sure nothing is gonna come lose and get into the engine. But basically its a temp sensor.
the buick v6 has got to be one of the worst 'racing' engines ive ever driven.
Beatutiful for the street and a daily driver, they have my respect there with their very torquey feel and attitude up untill 100km/h but after that, its just terrible.
You can really feel the engine self mutilate when you rev it, and given the fact that it makes peak power fairly low in comparison to a jap engine, you feel cruel in reving it out....well at least i do.
Personally, i wouldnt bother.... do the mods for looks and add a full exhuast, but performance wise i think your wasting your time.
If your helbent of having a "fast" v6, i suggest you pay rod haddfield a visit as he has a supercharger kit bolt on, for 2500 fully installed, running 4psi boost.e
the buick V6s were not made to go fast, its that simple.. if your a diehard fan i bet you disagree, but for the mount of money you might spent on it to get it to an acceptable level, you will not be on par with the same amount of money spent either on a v8 equivilient or a similar jap engine (for arguments sake an rb30 and for v6 specific, vg30dett)
Way to make a man feel down I just wanna make it look good and go harder than everyone elses, not gonna be dragging peoples VLTs or Twin Turbo Supras.. We'll see how it goes, I'll start with all the cheaper stuff, just got the filter and cold air intake this morning

Soluble mate, don't worry bout it... if you want to do something different, then by all means do it. I know once my VS is back on the road i'll be doing engine mods.
The V6's in the US are pulling some big numbers by the way darkstar... so they're not a useless engine by any stretch of the imagination.
Granted, they are a little harsh revving up high but they haven't been known to grenade themselves from high revving. They are very torquey, and great for the street. Also in standard guise, they're not much chop over 100 where they start to stumble a little. Something like a good chip and maybe a cam can help that out though. I know my VS with a Powerchip Gold now pulls away easily from 100km/h at about 3000rpm its pulling away very strongly.
You can make an Ecotec V6 go quick... certainly not as quick as a VLT but then if you want that quick, buy something else.
Haddfields blower kit is decent yeah, but for $2500 and only a 25% increase in power you could do an exhaust, cam, chip, cold air, throttle body, MAF, and rollmaster timing chain and probably make that 25% anyway, and come in a fair whack cheaper.
personally i say go for my88vl's idea if u like ur car.. it'll definately go better, depends what u want... everyone has different opinions, some ppl will back u, some won't ...
i reckon vr/vs' with no kits, just nice rims lowered look really neat, just like a vl do.. so i say go for it if u like ur car mate

Also, just a small side note, Haddfields blower kit isn't designed to be a full time thing, so you're paying $2500 installed for a kit which only gives you 25% in short bursts when you flick the on switch. Whereas spending a little bit less on the above mentioned alternative mods, you're getting roughly the same power increase.... FULL TIME.
Don't get me wrong Haddfields blower kit is a great idea and probably works really really well but i just can't warrant spending $2500 on something thats only going to give you 25% in short bursts. It would be cheaper to buy a ZEX Nitrous kit from Autobarn and run a 75hp shot of NOS into it.
Just my thoughts on it.
Of course body wise, well no matter what car you own, paint is expensive, and lets face it... all model commodores use the same rims anyway so whether is a VL or a VS rims are still gonna cost ya the same. Just depends if ya like sleek lines, and newer shape of a VS, or the old lines of the VL...

Zex kits are $899 for the bottle, and jets and so on... pretty easy to fit.
Check out www.zex.com
Also ask your insurance company... they'll bend you over and ream you for having it even fitted... bottle or no bottle, if they see you have a nitrous kit installed its wave goodbye to your insurance policy, and say hello to a lengthy court case if you're in an acco.
haha nice one Jet Pilot, you n/a would get a mighty chopping from my car. Ive chopped many a VL in my time, and im scared the **** out of a few VSs in the wet before, they didnt attempt at the next lights.
race an EF, it'll kill you, 157kw and 1500kg (much lighter than AU), even the BA cuts a mid 15 pass, which is quicker than any stock VS out there. EF/L XR6 can cut a 15 flat on a good day, i'd be surprised if a VS did that.
all that work my88vl that you have planned, and i'll still chop ya :P
Yeah the Buick V6 is different in some ways to the ecotec, dont think because they pull massive numbers you can too. Plus they spend a small fortune on them to make them get these respectable numbers.
Soluble, in 3 years when you're 21 and come to sell your car, it'll be worth even less. Plus I thought insurance didnt change much till you were 25 anyway.
If I had to describe a VL or a VS as "sleek", it wouldnt be the VS for sure.
I personally wouldn't do any major work on a V6, but that's my opinion only. Hey it's your car mate.
Soluble mate,
There are 2 types of the V6, there's the VN-VR one, which uses the old style Buick design and technology, and then there is VS - Current which still works on the same principal but higher compression, and newer technology.
