Those cars that were sold new with Turbo kits were the CDT models. I have seen a pic of a VH CDT with flared guards and some sort of grill or scoop on the bonnet. Little bit of info on the 202 Turbo's http://hold-comm.members.easyspace.com/techtips/turbo202.html Corsa

There was a VB in Street Commodore mag not too long ago that had a 202 turbo in it. He did it himself and the car owed him all up $10000, including purchase price. It only made something 140HP at rear wheels.

Which issue? I've been a reader of Street Commodore's since day one, and I can't remember any 202 Turbo VB's.

We've got a holden 186 sitting in the shelf at work - turbo AND injected. No idea what it came out of, but we're trying to fit it into a Vuxhall (sp?) Chevette Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I was looking into this for my VK, i found a bit of info on www.oldholden.com which helped me but in the end i just couldnt b bothered stuffing around with it. Now and then in the tradingpost there is a 202 turbo kit. I have seen one of these kits and they r nearly all assembled and they bolt onto the inlet/outlet manifold and you just connect the throttle cable and stuff upto it and get an exhaust on it. These kits go for like $500. They originated on a prototype kingswood a while back, using garret turbo and manifolds i think.

sorry INFLYT my bad. It is actually a turbocharged 186 in a VK. June 2001 issue. I 'm surprised that I could even remember something like that at all.

Yeah cause I thought I can't recall something like that, cause I seem to have a photographic memory when it come's to anything car related

140hp? ouch. I have seen a VH with VL turbo driveline for sale along with some rb30 transplants. the 202 is a pretty primative motor... not even cross flow design. Why bother where a jap rb30 can be had for similar money and is as turbo-able as can be. In standard form its so good, the only thing changed on the VLT motors was the pistons (lower compression only), cam and a few ancilleries (slightly higher flow oil pump and the nessasary water/oil lines for the turbo). Head, blocks, cranks, conrods, valves etc, all the important stuff is the same. You would be foolish not to follow the trend, but i can understand if you want to be original in a show car etc.

To be different I guess, would be the motivation in this case

thats why i would do it, any body could just chuck in a rb30t, but lifting the bonnet and seeing a injected boosted 202 would be sumthing totally different.

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

CDC was the maker of this turbo VC back in '81 only. The vehicles did not meet emission requirements & did not undergo any of the generals certified testing, so the company was a mocked up HDT for its time. Exact qty released was 44 of these vehicles aust wide........

The Holden Red sixes did have in a proto stage, a crossflow head, later to be bought out by REPCO as an after market option!!! These x-flow heads are very rare & worth about $2000 if u can find 1.!!!! With this head & triples, the engine produced around 200HP, same as a stock VLT!!!! Not bad for a design in the 60's

Woo!! I just dug up a thread that is 2 years old!! Has anyone got any info on the CDT models 'cos I just bought one and would like to learn a bit more about them. Is Corsa still around? I'd love to check out that info he has. Cheers.

I believe it just covered some info on the Turbo setups for 202's and nothing to do with the CDT cars. I do have a magazine article on the development of the turbo kit for a Kingswood as well as an article on the CDT Gemini but none on the CDT Commodore. Might still have some pics of the CDT cars floating around. Corsa
