i'll keep my eyes open for it, i pass through that area a bit. My cars got a www.calaisturbo.com sticker on it so it should stand out, there aint too many of those stickers in this area.
hmm.. been meaning to get one of those .. they should come with the membership
Just got a kenwood sticker for the moment
You might also see me in sydney or on the F3 .. 300kms/day at the moment between here and there ..fun

I dunno .. spend half as much on the stereo as i did on the car?
i like my car, the job is decent and the money is good .. also im on dual fuel, so its cheap .. and given 80% of that is the f3, its mostly freeway, its not tooo bad .. Do wish i had better front seats tho

I would love to be in a job which pays a decent wage so I wouldn't have to keep my head above water and actually try to run the car and live at the same time (i.e. enjoy it a lot more rather than getting ulcers doing what I am doing with it at the moment).
Some people wouldn't know how I did it on apprentice wages 8 months ago stripping the car back to bare metal and driving 80 kms a day to and from work (used to work in Broadmeadow, now near Raymond Terrace),at this point in time I am only on casual employment for a few days a week and I am building this engine, but will hopefully lead to full time employment soon which will only pay $20 above the minimum wage,he did say if I was any good at the job he would increase the wage ,but I can only hope.
That is part of the reason I am doing this to the VL as I was sick and tired of pouring what money I had into a car which had parts such as injectors and air flow meters fail on it,also one that wasn't a smooth runner like an RB30 should be,the motor has 440,00 kms on it and I don't think it has had an easy life before we had it in the other VL ,I was caught in a position where I couldn't really afford all new parts for the motor but I needed a reliable car that didn't chew the juice which mine currently does (for my liking anyway,11l/100 km highway cycle, used to get 8.5 l/100 km),but I liked the VL model, but I knew in reality the later Nissans have better designed electrics (i.e. air flow meters, injectors and Cam angle sensors) and low km RB25's were there for the taking so I went out, bought it and cannibalised it for the RB30 build.
After that is all fitted,I can hopefully afford new rear discs, then concentrate on fitting the Kenwood stereo I have sitting around from my other VL then concentrate on saving for a front Aero spoiler then cut and polish the paint work.
mmm. Kenwood goood Tis what iv got .. Well .. Kenwood HU, 10x7's, and 12" sealed sub .. sony amp and pioneer 4" polypropolene fronts .. runs nicely
Sounds like youv done a lot of work (and money) to your vl .. I'm sure it'll reward you well when its all finished ..

I would want to reward me.
My brothers VN has around $10,000 spent on it (maybe more) and is a V6.
The reward for that is it's a better car than many VN's (and models past it also),its not a car which you have to worry about stuff going on it and it performs heaps better,it is one of the best looking VN's around.
My VL has needed a lot of money to be spent on it as I bought it for $1500 with 12 months rego on it,its faults were- the fact there were rust holes around the front and rear windscreens, rust holes along the roof channels as the car had both faded metallic paint and roof rack which stopped the water from draining away, had a smashed 3rd/4th synchro hub and rings, damaged 4th gear and collapsed mainshaft spigot bearing, blew smoke and leaked oil ,all of the paint was faded and the master cylinder leaked brake fluid,so the car was basically a P.O.S.
I fitted the motor and 5 speed box from my other VL into it,have cut all of the rust out of it,straightened the body out and it now has a coat of Canary yellow paint on it,the suspension the last owner had in it was very sloppy as it had been raised at the rear,I fitted the super low suspension which I thought was FE2 into it,I have recently changed it to FE2 all around.
Underneath the bonnet is still the original car colour (dark metallic blue) and the motor is a bit of a mess, while it doesn't leak oil a little weeps out from the rocker covers, this attracts dust and makes the engine look dirty, the block could do with a cleanup and a coat of paint.
I am not doing this to the motor as I am building the twin cam motor for it,it also recently has had the front converted to the VT front disc setup and has a reconditioned 1 inch m/c fitted, the booster had been repainted also.
I have fitted the 88 interior into it which needs work.
Basically it isn't like a top notch Calais which you can buy for $6000 - $7000 from a saleyard with nothing to spend.
