I was waiting for that to happen... We've been told... However referring back to Slippin's original question, are the Seat Belt Retractors and Latches Universal or specific to the VL? Because now that mine are removed I need new ones... Also can the strap be taken off the Retractor?
Bumping an old thread.
I am now having the same problem. So is it just the rusted-spring the one responsible for not retracting the belt back? Is it just the case of lubing the entire piece in order to get it working again? I don't know why they would rust - no water comes in through the panel joints.[COLOR="Silver"]
BUMP. It is now the future...
I removed my seatbelts (complete interior).
Now putting them back in, my driver's side rear seat belt won't retract.
So I can't put it in, not enough slack from the boot through the parcel shelf. Any help on how to loosen it? It's driving me mad.
Thanks

A previous post in this thread mentioned a penetrine style oil/spray that might free up the belt.
I have looked on other websites and some people have mentioned hot soapy water to get rid of grime that causes belts to stick and grab. I tried this on my drivers belt on my ute and it worked, it freed up the sticky belt.
Others have mentioned to use graphite powder (sold at most auto parts stores) in the belt retractable area, pour it into where the seatbelt is retracted.
Graphite powder works well on some window tracks as well. It helps the windows go up and down easier as it works like a dry type of lube. I'e used graphite powder on window tracks and it worked great but I haven't used it on seatbelts yet.
Someone else in this thread posted about the removal of the re-tensioner plastic cover then remove the steel ball that helps lock the belt in place then the belt can be removed fully from the re-tensioner.
Not sure if any of this helps but some of them could be worth a try.
Good Luck!
