The safest and easiest way to do the conversion is to do what i did....Look around for however long it takes(as i had a smick looking Series II N/A) to find a registered, or even just a running complete VL Turbo, I wanted 5speed conversion, and it took me almost a year to find a factory VL Turbo 5speed, but i found one for the right price eventualy, one owner with books, and it hasnt let me down yet after converting, my main costs were:TIME, rebuilt turbo $880, Heavy duty clutch/pressure plate $340, Radiator flushed, and new hoses $50 for all, centre bearing $30, all fluid replacement, and a few extras that i refreshed, rather than being neccasary, and i converted my N/A gear into other car and it made a good daily driver.... I already had the turbo brakes and decent suspension under it, which is a must BEFORE the engine transplant I think, and now it runs really well with not too many problems.Still on stock boost, which may change in the future after an intercooler is added. This is just my 2c, but hopefully a bit of direction for a few people

that's cool, it's just that if everyone starts to do it, the forum will turn into one huge rainbow... extremely annoying....

To all considering this conversion: I will be doing this in about a month and have been considering either doing it myself or taking it to a worshop. So I went to 3 workshops today and they all said that they wont touch it because of the risk of detonation! Has anyone else had this problem? So I will be doin it myself over a couple of days.

kingy do the conversion yourself, and if it blows it gives you an excuse to build a monster motor, and start fresh. Let me know how you go as i've been planning to do my Aero for a long time now and i couldn't be farked. So if yours survives i might actually do it. And take lots of pics and write down your steps to pass onto me Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

This thread needs to get back on track... Is anyone else close to starting this conversion?

Not really close as such - Getting the gearbox and diff soon, and then I'm either doing the conversion or making something from scratch Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
