BlackVLGrpArep, it all sounds good, I dont know much about the 4agz. How much boost does the 4agz run? On a side note, I have been told that they are a bit too small for the RB30, but that was just one mechanics opinion. Best of luck with the covnersion mate, and post some pics when its all installed. I would be keen to see the blower int he engine bay. Cheers mate. 8)

Im been goin to a mechanic and a mate that works there, they only build performance engines anyway they have done a few of these conversions and they reakon it is the ****.....given that its up to you wether u want a street car or a strip car...... Anyways it all adds up to a car that rockets off the stop line and up to the speed limit and thats where it counts on the streets. I will post pics and more info on power figures as i get it all done.... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey guys, just found this thread. What is best depends on what engine you have, and what you want it to do. There is no one single answer for everyone. I have had supercharged, turbocharged, and twincharged (blower + turbo) cars. There is a thread going at the moment on another forum on twincharging : http://board.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=67139090

There is variety of superchargers STA(powerflow), CAPA (Vortch, Paxton, Powerdyne) and also the Eaton PD blower. What's better From an engineering viewpoint, the PD supercharger would initially seem to have the most appeal. Its abilty to supply boost almost from idle compared to the way the centrifugal needs to 'wind up', would make it a dead-set choice for those interested in botom-end torque. Even though the PD blowers are very good, you still wont see them winning dyno shoot-outs such as Horsepower Heroes,as their 'flow versessize' ratio is nowhere near as good as that of a centrifugal.

I agree. You need to look at the whole package of engine plus supercharger, and also the application as well. There is no best type of supercharger or turbo, they all have a place. After having used a Toyota SC14 blower myself on a smaller engine, I think it is much too small for an RB30. It will create boost, but it has very limited top end airflow, like the RB30DE. What you will end up with, is monstrous tyre frying low end torque, but it will not rev out, and not make horsepower. I have never owned an RB30, but from all the information about there seem to be several ways to go about this. Easiest is to just build up an RB30ET, this is straightforward and the results guaranteed. Another way might be to make up an RB30DE twin cam normally aspirated and get an extra 30% top end power increase. Further tuning will get a whole lot more. How about a centrifugal blower on a stock RB30E, that would really put some life into the top end. It would not have the strong midrange of the RB30ET, but it would also be a lot less work to fit. And you could take it off if you sell the car.

Who exactly said that they were buying a 6/71 roots blower? They are tough as hell but I would really love to see someone try to attatch it to an RB30 successfully.

The fifty year old GM blower is certainly something that demands respect. But today an Eaton would be a far better choice for many reasons, and a lot easier to fit onto an inline six as well. But if you ever win Tatslotto, a Whipple screw blower is definitely King of the blowers.
