I agree with Mobil HRT on this one,Ford are a bunch of con artists who build these throw away types of cars (i.e. no recommended service intervals for the automatic except U/warranty and no valve lash adjustment provided ,no cam followers whatsoever like the RB30,s have).
They also compare a so called tickford enhanced XR6 motor to an S pack Commodore with the "STANDARD" v6 fitted to it.
If any of these people bagging the Holden had went into a "REAL HI PO" Holden v6 ,I mean a HSV SPEC'D v6 engine you would know what a fast 6 is then,I know I have in a VN SV3800 and it is bloody quick, like 0 - 120 KPH in the space of 50 meters with 4 people in it.
It had half the power again on top of what the standard VN v6 has (had 200 kw at the flywheel with "NO" supercharging done to it,the owner easily has had it way off the clock (like 250 KPH ).
Holden have ease if service still but too many people "complained" that their service intervals like oil changes weren't "up" to FOrds intervals (i.e. 15,000 kms) which is bloody ludricrous, they have had to offer this and increase the size of the oil sump.
I do mine every 5000kms in my VL,and we also do it that often in our VX,as for looks they still have to fix the doors up on the Falcon, they're still butt ugly.
I've seen both on the roads heaps now and the falcon looks ok, a little too round and soft for my liking.
The VY however is stylish, i wasn't keen from the photo's but i do like it... and no matter what anyone says, it does still keep a similar shape all round to the VT through VX series.
As for numbers, i've seen about 5 BA's here in Brisbane, and all up a total of about 30 odd VY's, including SS's and even a Clubsport.
From the photos, the BA looked pretty good, but when i went and actully had a look at them, I completely changed my mind. The XR's looked good, but the lower models looked... ummm... bad.
and i've only seen the hsv, and ss VY's so far, and they look good. Holden should of been more orignal with the back end but. The VY will forever be stuck with the name "magnodore" *sigh*

The BA XR6T really does it for me... I saw the blue print blue the other day... mmmmmmmmmmmm.... nice colour.. and the Phantom Purple...
only bad fact about it is its a ford.. but im sure i can live with that if i was given one

i thought they (for turbo) was good untill they had 2 call backs!!! 2 times they had to get everycar back to fix 2 different stuff ups!! thats pretty bad!! but what do you expect from the ford boys!!!

I seriously doubt it.
There would be like 30% of the market that will only buy Holden, 30% of the market that will only buy Ford. 20% of the market buying Toyota's and Mitsubishi's, and the other 20% sitting on the fence. Now you may get some of this 20% to shift, but I can't see it personally.
By the way, these figures are totally made up, just using them as an example.
Personally i think the XR6 4.0 turbo looks like a pretty good package overall, in my opinon Ford is now well infront of Holden in the Australian performance car market, particulary with the new Ford V8 comming out. As it has been stated before; the BA Falcon's are a compeltely new model compared to the moderately revised VY Commodore.
One thing that has come to my attention is that both cars look at lot smaller, especially the VY whcih almost looks like a cross between of a Vectra, Camry, Magna and a Lancer thrown all in the one car! It would be good to see Ford put the turbo motor accros the whole falcon range, much like Holden did with the mighty VL turbo!
