11-10-02, 22:11 GMT+10#21 bit off subject here but i think instead of spending there time dopping the speed limits here in sa like ive heard theyre goin to do maybe they should set up a legal place people can drag race like they have in melbourne (i think) and other places. so then they would get these people in there powerful cars a place to use them and hopefuly get the drag racing off the streets and make it safer instead of just fining every poor basterd that gets caught a couple of kays over the limit.
ok what i just said prolly makes no scence but the way they do it now isnt stopping people from speeding and ending up killing them selfs and others.
plus we need to get **** heads of the road some how cause in my town just recently there were a few people caught doing over 160kmp/h when it was absolutly pissing down with rain and this was in 60 and 80 zones now thats ****in stupid.

12-10-02, 08:51 GMT+10#22 My dad works for holden and i was speaking to him about the 3.2l and the 2.8l, both the turbo models will be exported, there are no plans for holden to release a turbo in Australia.
But in 2004 there releasing a 3.6l quad cam something or rather, havent got any more info then that yet ill be getting the specs for it in the next week or two, when i do ill post them

15-10-02, 13:06 GMT+10#23 Holden released a turbo 6 model UC torana it had more power and was quicker in all aspects to the 5L A9X race bread lx torana. then holden bring out the RB30ET in the vl and its quicker and fast in all aspects to the 5L V8 version if they release a new model with a turbo i want one

02-02-03, 11:48 GMT+10#24 I thought the turbo Holden motor was just for export purposes for the SAABS.
I read an article on the 190 KW v6 (I think thats the power figure),which is a high compression quad cam 3.6 litre Cadillac v6 built in Canada, this will be fitted till the 200 kw quad cam 3.8 litre Holden are building is ready.
Should give Ford a run for their money as they are all alloy and will be better on fuel, also I hate Fords.

02-02-03, 11:57 GMT+10#25 regarding what was said earlier, isnt there some kind of driving course you have to do in order to purchase a new high powered holden car?

02-02-03, 14:17 GMT+10#26 Is it just me, or has driving become less enjoyable lately? What with the constant paranoia about Speeding Etc... :? They've really ****ed it up here in Toowoomba, now we've got a 50KM Speed Limit, yet there are 60 Signs everywhere, it is impossible to distinguish the Speed Zones and I'm not joking. Also I have to drive for like 1 Hour to get to the nearest Drag Strip, our city is big enough, WTF don't we have one?

02-02-03, 15:29 GMT+10#27 The power figures look great but when you consider the weight of the new Commodore's and Falcon's it brings the cars back to reality The new standard Falcon has got 180KW which sounds great but the car weighs somthing like 1750kg :!: :!: That's about 400kg heavier then a VL Calais Turbo!!
That weight difference is like having five male adults in a VL Calais!!!

03-02-03, 09:38 GMT+10#29 The new turbo Ford ain't that special, had look under the hood looks ugly with all that plastic induction crap but saw one cruising the other night looked like it went ok but cant hear the turbo that much sounds like a VL when they are stock.
Can't see holden releasing a turbo just yet as they are planning a new V6 for the next model, get a gen 3 can't beat it execpt for the oil consumption

03-02-03, 16:09 GMT+10#33 Well at only 190kw I don't think anyone would buy this Holden turbo 6 cyl. by then Ford's will produce 300kw after they upgrade it. Holden should have kept the turbo 6 going years ago, after the nissian series. Not this supercharged ****. producing apprx 180kw now. It's been around this figure for 5 years now when they came out in the VS11.

03-02-03, 17:20 GMT+10#34 I think he meant the 190KW was for the standard Six(V6) that that are bringing out, the turbo has apparently a lot more power.

i work for a holden dealership in melbourne as a sales consultant and any joe blo can walk in and buy a GTS....
your probally thinking of ford you get a free drive day if you buy there new GT or GT-P.....
and regarding the new motor in in VY II its all speculation at the moment holden is being really tight lipped about what motor there using.... but we dare say the will hold it off for the all new ground up car there making for 2004-5
