nah them 4s were really good , cept power wise.
my bros first car was a vh with the old starfire 4cyl. hehe i did my first skid in it too , comin out of gravel onto road.
My brother has a s14 SR20DET in a datsun 1600 with 220KW at the wheels
Huge custom front mount cooler, 12psi, Nizmo injectors, 3Inch mandrel exhaust, Haltek E6K, R200 LSD. This is all in a stock looking Grandma mobile and weighs just over 1 tonne. 11.8 sec Quarter mile
So imagine that in a VL and it aint gonna be too good with the extra weight
Firstly the backfire 4 cylinder wasn't released in a VB Commodore as they are a blue motor, they came in the SUnbird after Holden ditched the SOHC Opel motor used in the LX sunbird, and also the cut down 6 was used in the VC-VH Commodore.
It was a stupid idea fitting a 4 cylinder into a Commodore as they are only really designed for larger 6 cylinder & v8 engines,Ford had the stupid notion of fitting a 4 cylinder engine to their Falcon based on a cut down six as well but ditched the idea, too gutless.
