But doesnt the ECU then retard the timing by 5deg or something without the sensor wiring and make it run richer? A bit confused !! ) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Don't know if it runs richer when the knock sensor is disconnected, but it does retard the timing 5 deg. My understanding is it retards the base timing accross the entire map, so if you set your timing with it disconnected you should be right. What your doing is advancing the factory set timing by 5 degs, then the ecu subtracts 5, so adjusting it kinda counteracts what the ecu does.

Ok cool Well I think I'll have to get my Injectors Tested and also Leak Tested Etc... Gotta feelin could be this As I have replaced Turbo Fuel Pump External one, fuel Filter,Fuel Pressure Reg,Cooltant Temp Sensor and check al of the other sensors and given them a clean with contact spray. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the ecu will only retard timing if it is connected & detonation is detected

Today I also clean with Throttle Body cleaner the O2 Sensor as it was fill of carbon ,but I think next course of attack is to get the injectors leak tested etc...

Update "Black smoke on warm start up or if been sitting for a few Hrs after driven" Ok I am running out of things to check here is what I have done so far 1.Had Injectors flowed and leak tested and clean all are fine. 2.Replaced Fuel Pump (External) & Fuel Filter 3.Replaced AFM 4.Replaced Fuel Pressure Regulator 5.Replaced ECU with spare had lying around 6.New Dizzy Cap and Rotor Button ,New Spark Plugs, Oxygen Sensor, new Coolant Temp sensor and plug ,CAS Plug and boot is all ok CAS only 12months old. Checked all the hoses that run from Charcaol Canister to the Throttle body and the two that run alog the X-Over pipe that go into the plastic down pipe that goes into AFM all ok. Checked all hoses from the Fuel Pressure Reg Solenoid switch and Surge tank that go to Fuel pressure reg and hose goes to Inlet Manifold all ok,X-Over inside is spotless so is Inlet manifold when took top half off getting injectors out. The only thing I havent tested is the Throttle Position Sensor. Sorry for long message but I have done multiple searches and tried everyhting above from all other posts I have found. Basically Cold Morning starts are fine no black smoke and starts 1st crank. Only have hard starting issue when car is warm and or has sat for a few hrs (Warm starts) takes about 5-6cranks then kicks over and black smoke comes out then is ok. ***Can any1 please help not sure where to go from here??? Thanks ,Joe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
