one JL 12W3v2 ($400 MAX dont pay any more than that) in a slot ported box tuned at 30.8htz (diagram for the box is in the instructions (complete construction yourself $40 <$28 for wood and $12 for screw and glue>) rear loaded, running off a bridged Jaycar 2x150 (NEW 05 model pushes out 500wrms @ 4Ohm bridged <$249>) I can tell you now that this set up will give you the punchiness for techno and the low end roll for r-n-b & rap and its just so rounded, it'll play any music. The sound isnt overly agressive and the frequency gradient is beautifully rolled. This set up will keep you happy for years to come, whether its just for quiet listening cruising down the highway, or pumpin down the main drag, it'll be sure to keep you entertained!!

id go two 12's over 1 15 any day...the 15's are too slow with the thump and wont provide the consistant doof that the 12's will...i was going to go two 15's...but then worked out that not only would 2 12's be better for thr hip pocket, but better sounding as well
as far as brands...heard nothing but bad news about sony...stick to higher end brands..clarion, rockford fosgate, fusion and the like

why not pay more for better? a friend of mine payed more for a 12" square kicker sub, and its thumps hard and good, definitely worth spending on if you have the money
