Dude, you want singing guitars?
Listen to Blind Guardian. Then listen to Jason Becker, Marty Friedman and Cacophony, then listen to Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, and then listen to Death (with Chuck Schuldiner) and also Cryptopsy and finally, DRAGONFORCE. Hermann Li is insane! goto mp3.com and download "Valley of the damned".
Oh, and while you're at it, get Nightwish and Sonata Arctica!
If you liked Hammet, you'll shoot a load when you hear these guys. Also, Dream Theaters' John Petrucci is a god amongst guitarists.
Can't you tell I play?

28-07-02, 18:15 GMT+10#28 I like anything from Progressive House to Hard House Hrd NRG, trance, hip hop, ...basically anything that makes you feel good. Anyone that thinks making GOOd electronic music is not skillful are ignorant ****heads, and anyone that thinks DJing does'nt take skill are just as bad. I hate heavy metal stuff where the just scream at the top of their voice, or Tool..what a bunch of miserable pricks! I'm not sayin happy teeny bopper stuff is good (that is well gay!) but geeez!
But then i don't deliberatly go for cruzes wid me windows down and da stereo cranked for posing either......

If I wanna hear people rhyming crap to synthetic tunes I'll watch playschool. Dance music is the disco of the future - I can't wait till it dissapears and people are embarresed to say they ever listened to it.

Ignorance is you! Metal is god - you have no idea how diffucult and skillfull it is. I'd like to see one of your pussy ass dj boys thrash out a tune half as powerful and emotive as a decent metal band. And most of Tool's songs are about bettering yourself, love and personal furtherment. You know not from where you come.
Talk like yoda I do.

24-08-02, 18:48 GMT+10#33 Umm, I'm ignorant... Oldgold, your nick name says it all, old fashioned. Electronic music is in, and some of it has guitars. I agree with about the rnb and try hard gangsta rap, i prefer real hip hop, like De la Soul, Avalanches old skool stuff (coz its funny). I like anything that makes you feel good. I don;t know if you've heard of the Streets, but that is English garage/hip-hop which would relate to many of us.
I do like Rage against the Machine, they have a lot going for them.
I don't however and never will, listen to bogan music. Music is about feeling good, not depressing yourself with someone elses misery.

26-08-02, 16:43 GMT+10#34 Old Fashoined I may be, ignorant I am not. Wait 5-10 years when so called "Dance music" and "hip hop" etc. has faded, and you have grown up. You will be embarresed to admit that you listned to it. Come on, "Hip Hop." It sounds like a fad. And I do listen to some electronic music, Clawfinger, KMFDM, etc. just as long as it actually sounds like a song, not just repeated beats and samples and wailing about how prosecuted they are by the police, white people, whatever.
And people like me who listen to metal, music with substanence, some emotion, some feeling will still be there listening to the same stuff, while your crap will be on the $5 clearance shelves at K-mart along with the Bee Gees, Adam and the Ants, etc. etc.
In the end tho, doesn't matter what you like. Just my opinion. I dont find my music depressing but if you do, fine.

27-08-02, 20:31 GMT+10#36 Dance music has been around for a very long time....longer than metal. It began in Africa....(no pun intended) a long, long time ago, and will still live. It will just change styles, eg the 70's was "Disco" 80's saw the introduction of "house" music, and the late 80's saw "acid house' take off. The 90's had many popular styles, from Happy Hardcore to Techno and Trance. Now the 00's see's the popularity of "Hard NRG" and "Hard House, "Progressive House" etc dominating the club scene, and now with this years release of "Freeform" (really hard nrg/hardcore), so you see "dance" music will continue to evolve....
Everyone has a right to listen to what they choose, whatever makes them feel happy is good. I used to like heavy metal, and always liked dance music, but i havegone passed the heavy metal now. I listen to a wide range of music, so i share similar tastes to many different people. And you are right that some gangsta rap is a load of bull, but real hip hop is good. With real rhyming and scratching etc. A lot of Hip Hop is used to express the artists feelings the same way heavy metal does. The stuff which is all like 'Yo i put cap in your ass, nigga' stuff is crap and so is Eminem.
Listen to what you want. it's a free world (to a certain extent anyway.)
