Spiritfc: Quote: my car car would shudder badly ONLY whilst going up a step hill at low speed i.e. under full load... umm.... the lockup clutch works in 4th gear dude and usually bangs its way into action when ur goin along the highway at about 90+ kph so unless u were in 4th gear when you were going up this hill at low speed, it obviously wasnt the lock up clutch. ie.. turboluke was right and u and ur lockup symtom bull**** is wrong. And more importantly there is obviously somethhin else wrong with ur 'vibrating' car .. I wont go there.. read ur own **** right before u post it up dude hehe BYebYe Ollie Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

spiritfc, I assumed you were talking about the lock up torque convertor because it is the only thing you can "disconnect" to fix the problem. You cant disconnect the torque convertor itself. The one on my old NA calais was shagged and it would only shudder up a hill at over 70. there is a hill near my house on an 80 zone where the car would always shudder as the torque convertor kicked in. they only engage over 67 km/h on low to medium load, and the vibrating is more prominent on a hill as it has to work harder to engage.

Check your tailshaft. i'd put money on it being your centre mount... probably torn to shreads, also check the bolts to your diff and also check your UNI's.

BTW - turbo torque converters are a constant slip. the n/a's are a lock up.

All components in the tailshaft are new. It has also been balanced.

Hey, I've got this problem in my N/A VL - I've replaced the centre bearing/hanger bearing and all the UV's in the driveshaft. This lockup thingy sounds like what it could be - my thing only shudders when in 4th (automagic g'box) and the revs drop about 200rpm (that magic 5th). Can anyone tell me what wire and where to disconnect it?

the plug it the front of the box the solinoid screws in to the bell housing. the nissan is grey/redtrace.this earths in the trans controler under the seat on a R31 or inside the fake fuse box VL. but check leads plugs and cap/rotor first as week spark voltage does that. the shudder at 15 and 80 km aprox and drone cruise is drive line angles. other shudders are suspension/joints/mounts/etc....

easiest way to do it in a VL is to cut it directly at the auto computer. it is under the steering column. pop the cover off and cut the light blue wire that connects to the computer
