27-06-02, 11:01 GMT+10#21 Yeah they must be harder...
in S.A. just about everyone gets their p's right away, you can do it by a log book method as well, but you need like 5 lessons to do it.
I know in my small country town where I did mine, there's no where to do a proper u-turn + no traffic lights :P

27-06-02, 11:08 GMT+10#22 yeah well I never encoutered a round about, a traffic light, or a hill. I pretty much had to drive a cop to the hospital for a blood test then drive back again. I reckon I could have totalled the car and I still would have passed. This was a bit of a let down though. I'd done driving courses and even a defensive driving course (although your meant to have a p license to do it) and all I had to was drive a guy across town.

27-06-02, 11:44 GMT+10#23 I paid heaps of money for lessons before I went for my test and I guess the lessons were better than the actual test because when taking lessons I was tought the route that the driving instructor would take me on so i'd be aware of what I was doing. The day came and when he told me to turn left and I thought I was going right, I didn't know what I was doing because I'd learnt the route... We didn't even go near where we were supposed and instead just drove around whilst he talked to me... I recon my lessons paid off more than the actual test...I would never take the test with that driving instructor again. The person I took lessons with even warned me about him which is half the reason why I was **** scared on the day...
Oh well least it's done and over and I shouldn't have to do it again thank god.
Anyway good luck on your retry

27-06-02, 11:52 GMT+10#24 Yeah i agree with Turbo Chick...
I had 3 lessons with a school and she took me around the route that the tester would be using.
The i went for the test and he told me to turn right at the top of the street... which i would have done but i saw a "No Right Turn" sign... i dunno about Melb or Sydney but up here in QLD i have heard of them trying to trick you.
P.S. i didn't turn right... but i did get told off for being smart about telling him the sign was there.

27-06-02, 12:00 GMT+10#25 i know how ya feel dude, although my case was worse..
my instructer failed me for using my clutch half way around a round about and when i was going over a speedhump.. thats all!!! i found out by the next time i went for my P's that she had been fired because she was failing people for things that were not apart of the test, such as the clutch thing... oh well, made me feel a little better, but still meant i didnt get my P's for 2 weeks, and left me 200 bux lighter!!
also put a dampner on my b'day as i went for them on my birthday.
hmmm speaking of which, i get off my P's in 2 weeks
