Compression ratio is too high too. 9.0:1.... way too high to run high boost. You'll need to rebuild it with low comp pistons if you want more go than most. The turbos are ceramic too, they fall to bits if you run anything more than about 14psi. Costly to mod they are... hmmm.. yes..... stick with a vl you must.... hmmm...... turn away from the dark side you will......... Or if you've got money get a supra, if I had 40 grand I would!! Thats about the only thing for performance other than a vl I'd buy .... but thats my opinion.... If a skyline is what you want then go for it man. Its not that they're not good, they're just costly. If you can stand for that than buy it.

hey man i dunno about the 4 doors, they dont look near as sporty as the 2 doors but yeah i can understand that there is a ****load of 2 doors going around as someone else mentioned, but as chilled said they go damn hard with some mods my mates bro has a r33 GTS-T m-spec and it goes hard with only minor mods so much smoother than a VLT but yeah same sorta deal as a VLT only thing is when you start doing it up stuff is gonna cost a ****load more! well thats if you wanna do it properly!! and if you get one your gonna wanna put the full sik jap exhausts on it and the sdjustable suspension so yeah dont just think about the car think about the cost of mods as well!!!! stick with the 2 door though i reckon -Jase

My R33 Made 161rwkw on stock boost with just a cat-back exhaust, and airpod.. I get over 600ks to a tank of fuel. It has Climate Control, Full electrics, Fully Adjustable seats. Looks sexy as, turns heads, drives like a dream. Twin Cam, VVT, Sure ceramic turbo on to 14psi.. but hey.. no lag.. Throw another turbo on, open the exhaust up.. cooler - you instatly have a quick car. Its pretty much the same price to modify an R33 as it is a VL.. I know which id prefer.. - But im biased :P Stick with the 2door.. dont be a granpa in a four door r33 :P ~ Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ive seen the 4doors in the flesh, and they look rather queer to put it nicely. If thats a requirement and you would like the luxuary of a sedan, then perhaps the vl/r33 might be the go. In terms of sports car appeal and so forth, the 4door was designed for families in mind, so dont really expect much interms of getting a performance package from japan. I dont really like rear end and they do look odd in the crowd. Ive been thinking r33, with some examples going for a mere 16k. to 20k for a worked one with bodykit rims and maybe an AVC-R. Mods are indeed expensive but thats because people choose to buy mods that are brand name. Who says you cant use a bleeder valve/solenoid control on an import, or an exhaust from your local joint just as your vl can. With imports, many get sucked in with the brand name appeal, so they can either stick the complementry sticker on their door (how gay) or have the wank value of a 'full sick extra drone and rice cannon ApExi Exhuast'. Bleh. Think of it as a VL and you will get more bang for your buck. The only thing is that the modification scene is not as extreme as the VL, considering the rb25 is a really updated rb30, then you can apply the same logic. Another attractive thing about the R33 is that if you put a huge front mount, EPA can lick your nads, as intercoolers were stock, and most police dont even know the specs of the imports, so if you run fatter tyres, or its a little too low, "its like that from japan sir". Keep in mind that resell value for imports are on the decline, as a soarer for example, has dropped as low as 13-15k from the 20k they were 2 years ago. R33s are following the same trend, but its all about the condition that your after as well. If you stack your r33, transfer all the goodies in to a VL shell, then you have the best of both In a nutshell, R33s are a good upgrade path in theory from a vl, as you will get a car that goes better with the same mods and has an upto date styling. I would go the r33 if i had the cash, and keep the VL still, or do one up from scratch to my tastes. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Actually I think you'll find a few more things wrong with the rb25 than that. I've made a list. 1. You can get a vl to run 12s with out changing the turbo+manifold, you can't with the skyline, there's a huge cost already and you don't need a brand name for that to cost heaps. 2. The comp ratio is insane, unless you like the sound (and consequences) of detenation. 9.0:1 is insane compared to 7.8:1 so the boost levels still have to be kept down. No R33 (with an RB25DET) will run a 10 on standard internals, vls do. 3. The injectors are underrated even when the motor is in standard form so heres another cost you can either get a custom fuel rail made up or buy an ultra expensive performance one. 4. The body parts are dear - not just the performance parts, and if the car has ever been in an accident in japan its more than likely been a very very dodgey repair job. 5. As for your prices yeah maybe for thrash bucket of ..... for one in decent condition and with a warrenty (and believe me you'll want a warrenty) you'll pay around 25 grand. Man I too had to weigh up the goods and bads of both. Admittedly the vl is an older car and you'll have more annoying problems but when you do get these sort of problems on a skyline they are a rear bitch to fix!!! Believe me I know a guy who sold his because it had so man problems with eletrical stuff it wasn't worth fixing. It was also going to cost the cars total cost just to fix it up, making it worth less. Skylines are good cars - in standard form, unless you've got big bucks. Its all really down to personal tastes and how bad you want something. If you want a skyline beprepared to outlay some money. To get the same thing from a vl will costs a lot less. If you just want an exhaust, bov, front mount and more boost to give you the same performance as every one else who owns an r33 then buy the skyline other wise get a vl. As for the cops they don't go on whats standard on them - they go on whats illegal and with the amount of r33 around I'm sure the cops know a few things about r33 even if you did think your little theory worked. Anyway who said frontmounts are illegal? I know a cop with a wrx with a front mount?? All I'm showing is a view from both sides of the fence. Also if you wanted everyone to say skylines are good you, should have posted in a skyline forum you would have got a more positive response. For the same price as that skyline you could have this http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/marketplace/UsedCarDetail.asp?ID=2042438&Criteria=%40Make% 3D%27HOLDEN%27%2C+%40Model%3D%27COMMODORE%27%2C+%4 0Keyword%3D%27turbo%27%2C+%40OrderBy%3D%27P2%27&am p;NoOfRecs=16&PageNo=1&chkRows=500

This argument is riddiculous.. and I'm not going to further it anymore by putting my point across.. its like arguing Ford vs Holden.. there is no answer.. they are both good cars in thier own right. Darkstar made some very valid Points, as did SirCalais.. but in the end it comes down to what you want out of a car.. and by the sounds of it sircalais wants a cheap 10sec weapon, whereas other people want a quick daily car that has style / comfort / reliability..

PIGS ARSE !!!!!!!! a mate has got a 2dr 1 of those & with 14psi boost , exhaust & cooler could only do a best of 14.6 at eastern creek ..... do that to a vl & see what u run .. R33s are heavier , more expensive to insure , hard to find parts for & even worse have a smaller cube motor ..... dont be fooled like sum into thinking its a natural selection to up/downgrade to an r32/33 skyline ... imports arent performance bargains ! up here in sydney they are everywhere (thats why i call them taxis , go to city/brighton on fri/sat nite & u see more r32/3s than taxis) and theyve devalued really fast ... eg , can easily find 93 r33 gts 25t , with wheels , shelter for the homeless exhaust , cd player,& sum form of bodykit from $18000 & up .... and in alot of cases when uv bought this performance import bargain & try to boost the thing it wont go much better than standard coz u need a fuel cut defender . & after u do that you'll probably find that the clutch or fuel pump wants to **** itself ... and then possibly the turbo coz sum wally in japan that owned the car before u , boosted it beyond its 14psi limit .... and if it appears standard , DONT BELIEVE IT !!!! very few come from japan standard , but have to appear standard when going for compliance (makes it alot easier to get through) .. my advice to any1 considering it , DONT BUY ONE !!! :x 8) You are calling a Skyline a taxi?? Heelllloooo and you own a Holden? Im not even going to attempt to decipher the garbage you said in that post. By asking if you should by a Nissan on a Holden forum...you most certainly arent going to get people to persuade you to buy the Nissan. In my opinion $21,000 for a 4 door R33 is to expensive. Go the 2 door, they look A LOT better then any standard 4 door Holden family sedan. Check out insurance first...because with like any turbo car it will be expensive. These types of threads always turn into comparing Nissan cars vs Holden cars. Im sorry guys but there is NO comparison in build quality between that of an R33 and a 15 year old Holden sedan. And im sure Ex-Static will back me up on that one. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

2fardown - Wake up get your head out 6 inch hks exhaust- darn slow fast ass piece of crap!! Look man I'm buying one soon....maybe. To keep the kms off my vl while I do it up. Its person choice if someone says that they look like taxis to them then they do - its their choice!!! I hate VT and VX I think their worse than Falcons, and they are taxis!!! So let these people express what they like and what they don't like with out taking shots at the people views. Take the crap out of the car itself with its good points and bad not the peoples thoughts, and yes I know I did it at the start of this reply but only to show you what its like. Point taken Sir Calais. I just really dislike the pig headed, bogan aussie mentality that some of you poses. If it wasnt for Nissan the VL would have probably been powered by that old Buick V6. Yes I used to own a VL and a VS SS until I got my Skyline...and I tell you right now you will never catch me in another Holden thats for sure! Haha. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
