apparently in the holden vl manual it takes 10 to 15mins of driving time before it warms up. ive only noticed it in my car in the last few months, and when it does change into forth for the first time it clunks into gear
I'm not exactally sure what the extent of the 'power' button is, but i know it does more than just control 4th gear. When i had my auto, driving along at say... 50km/h, in drive with power off, my car would rev at around 1500 (can't remember the exact value, this will do). If i didn't change the accelerator position, and simply flick power mode on, the revs would increase to around 2200rpm. It was like flicking between high and low ratio on a truck diff. But now I have a 5 speed, so it doesn't bother me But after excessive acceleration the power light still comes on, can't be many 5 speeds with that

Theres a temp sensor inside the tranny which clicks in at 45degC.
I think what it does is turns on the auto lockup torque converter.
Therefore allowing the electrically controlled 4th gear to work.
Speaking of RPM, dont the rb30's rev! I like to drop mine in second at 60km/h down the hills in town. Gets a nice thraoty burble going

Yeah they do have a nice grumble to them... i've only got a 2.25" exhaust and a 3" tip on it... and boy she rumbles along the freeway... infact its more of a loud drone...
Oh well no more of that cos it's gonna be gone soon.
2.5" zorst all the way through with extractors and bashed out cat....the slowing down sound grumbles like a V8, well there aint really a substitute for a "V8 Sound" but my exhaust and walky kit does intimidate some peeps in done up poo.....thou some dont give a ****!!! And half there luck too =)
If people are getting off the acclerator in their automatic cars, manually down changing into a lower gear and then getting back on the accelerator again, this is a big no no. What happens is when you downchange the box, it spins it up and when you get back on the gas the box tries to rip its self apart.
In automatic when you start your car first thing every day, you drive and it doesnt kick into second gear until your down the road, or if you put your foot down hard then the revs will go up and up and up then finally kick into second and so on. I think it might be common with the VLs. Cos after it finally changes it's fine.
theyre not supposed to take a long time to kick into 2nd when its cold.
my g/box is smoothe as when its cold as when its warm.
and ive read its good to drive with the pwr button out(till u get to 70km/h at least) because it wrecks your overdrive gear due to it changing into 4th at 50km/h, i know mine does and it meant u had to floor it to get any sort of response out of the old gal.
anyway
whats the go with the whistle mine gets if i hold it in first and goto 80km/h
sounds like a jet engine spooling up
