02-10-02, 23:15 GMT+10#21 i only have a single spinner, would it be cheaper for me to take it somewhere to get converted to LSD or just buy a whole diff somewhere?
also, does the LSD centre fit straight into a single spinner diff?
thanks

04-10-02, 00:12 GMT+10#23 Hey Guys,
Anyone found a site on how to put a mini-spool into a vlt diff? I've been looking around and only found a how-to for a nine inch.
How much different would it be i wonder?
Any help much appreciated.
Also, if min-spool's are illegal, how come diff and tranny places are allowed to fit them?
What, you go in with a road reg'd car but tell them, "oh, no i only use it for the track....honest!" :?

04-10-02, 01:06 GMT+10#24 if you can get hold of a hydratrek they are a fricken good diff. HSV uses them in there cars, expensive but very effective option!

Well why do exhaust places fit exhausts that will put out way above the legal sound limit???...same concept, they dont care they just want the $$$, its up to you if you get caught they arent liable.

04-10-02, 11:20 GMT+10#26 hydratrak diff centre - $1600 best price i could find
wont fit into a vl housing
need to use a hydratrack housing (live axle not IRS obviously) from a VR or VS and modify it to fit a vl
Borg warner dont even make the hydratrak anymore
so to do this conversion around $2000 if you can get a used diff from a 215kw VR or VS.
Bugger !

I am gettting my LSD built now and am considering your advice. You said that if you put 300lb springs in it that it would last for ages, I dont doubt that but wont springs that heavy make it almost impossible for the LSD to ever unlock itself :?:

05-10-02, 06:33 GMT+10#28 Thats the point, it will basicly be a spool until you do a u-turn then it will just slip, and it will be legal.
Shop around until you find someone who knows exactly what to do and has done it before.

10-10-02, 12:21 GMT+10#29 are there any good web sites on diffs cause im not really sure what they do or how they work.
so far this is what i think i know:
a normal vl diff (not lsd) spins one wheels at a time
a lsd spins both wheels at the same time but is it when goin round corners it "slips" and spins one wheel?
a minispool spins both wheels at the same time all the time (i think) so this would be pretty crap for road use right?
