I've seen photos of a few VLs that had aftermarket gauges set into the original cluster, from what I could see it looked really good, but the angles of the photos always made it hard to see what it looked like.

Then just go for the braided lines.I can tell you from track work they improve your braking about 4-8 times longeras the hoses do not swell up when they get hot,So the brake peddle feels a lot better for longer. Buy them thru Aussie and you will get them for about 200 hundy.

Cheers for that Marty... Im heading back to Aussie in November so ill have to check that out Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok my stupid question is, with standard injectors and fuel pumps putting an aftermarket ecu in (haltech) will there b any increase in power with the ecu alone??

not trying to steal the light from anachybmx (sorry I don't know the answer to your question) I have another question, with Intercooler piping, do you need to have all the ends flared (where the silicon joiners clamp on)? or is that not necessary? coz some of the piping kits I see have flares on them, then there is the universal ones which require chopping, meaning that they won't be flared at the ends. and intercooler inlet/outlet holes aren't flared, so my guess is that the flaring is not essential, but would someone please confirm this for me? cheers Sam p.s. don't forget to answer anachybmx's question too

yeah, its best to flare them but you dont have to,what you can do is run a couple of tacks around the edge of the pipe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I know it's been covered before.. but I hate the search function on this site, I only ever come up with a bunch of bull**** about every model Commodore other than the VL.. So here's my stupid question, what were the factory Calais tyre specs? (Width, profile) and what is the widest tyre that can be fitted to the Calais rims?

Factory Calais 205/65R15. I wouldn't fit anything larger than a 225/60R15 to factory rims

Is it cheaper to buy oil in 20L drums? as I have welcomed a 3rd car to my stable, a 'Remuera tractor spec' 1990 Range Rover Vogue 3.9L V8 which uses 7L of oil and buying the 4 or 5L bottles is getting kinda tedious and expensive especially when considering it uses the same oil as the VL. Who sells in in the 20L drums for the best price?

Yes! Not a huge amount, but you can fiddle with timing/fuel a little bit and tune it for some higher boost. Remember these computers were designed to run on regular 91 octane unleaded, not 95/98 premium unleaded.
