VL update: Had a ball at powercruise in October last year, unfortunately I had way too much fuel in my decel map and the thing was unloading giant flames all that weekend. Ran very well but took it's toll once the weekend was out and felt very lazy indeed. Without doing a compression test we have worked out that the car was over-fuelling too much causing the fuel to strip oil off the bore and thrash out the rings. By the end of the weekend a couple of laps would cause an unholy amount of semisynth oil to be deposited through the catch can and sprayed all over the strut tower area! Before I retired it again, I was determined to take it down to the motorplex to run a 10! Had to make a couple of trips (rained out the first time ) and managed a pb of 11.4 @ 116-118 mph on ETstreets. Highest mph was 120 for the night. The car was no longer making any power and hit a wall at 7000rpm. Every pass resulted in a degrease of the strut tower. I had my 60ft's down over 0.6 seconds less than when i ran the 11.7@122 so I should have pissed it in but alas, the motor was far too tired to play the game. Devastated that I still had not managed to complete my original goal 4 years ago with the red calais, I have parked up the car for the last few months contemplating my next move. I've always kicked myself for not building a 26/30 from the start and it's the only thing I would have changed along the way. With that in mind, I'm looking at a slightly different setup and have stripped off much of the current driveline. The bottom end will be rebuilt and I'm hoping to be up and running for powercruise (again! ) It's been an epic journey and shaped alot of my life. Everyone that knows me asks about how the VL's going before anything else! Occasionally I read back through this thread from the start for motivation and I'd really like to thank everyone for the help along the way! SERIOUSLY need to do a 10 lol. Cheers, Chris Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey Chris, you have had quite a journey with your VL's, and it's still continuing by the looks of it.....awesome work Your not alone with chasing the 10sec timeslip. I know a few guys down south and in Perth who have been mucking with VL's for many years and are still chasing the illusive 10sec. It will happen for you mate. Your hard work will pay off in the end. Goodluck with everything. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cheers mate, yeah I feel a bit weird about just up and selling stuff like I did but I'm determined to have another crack at setting it up for street legal 10's or as close to it as I can It's in the big shed now should start to take shape pretty quickly if all goes to plan! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Unbelievably I'm 50/50 torn between setting up an epic 26/30 and building a blown ls2/3 for the car now... Never thought I'd see the day

lol would be awesome if the WA section had 3 worked forced induction LSX vls pop out around the same time... would certainly have the cojones to run the 10 you want, you'd be in range of 9's with your glide setup for an LS too wouldnt you?
