Been a hive of activity on the car recently! Pulled a massive 12-hour day on it on Saturday and ticked plenty off the list. The engine bay was always 'nice' but it was lacking in a lot of areas. So we started pulling things out and throwing them in the bin - power steering, oil cooler assembly, standard fuel and pollution lines, plenty of other junk... Proceeded to degrease and wash everything down, mask it all up and spray the block in heat proof, low gloss black. We actually did this before the engine went in originally but it can't hurt to give it another go, just so it all looks fresh. I wish I had removed the engine to do it, though. Probably an hour and a half or more of masking to spend twenty minutes painting. Come Monday I was running around a bit. A trip to Earls had our braided clutch line made up then it was out to VG Auto Paints to pick up some pressure packs. I've been using their paint a bit lately and it's awesome. I get them to custom mix my colour in to a can and I can't speak highly enough of it. I've used cheap pressure packs in the past and the difference between a cheap can and the VGs stuff is chalk and cheese. I also got them to colour match my interior plastics so that I could finally spray my manual surround red! Oh, and then Hi Octane called and my exhaust manifold was done... just, wow! There's also a big box of parts from Jason JET3LT, namely some RB26 rocker covers and his old VY brake booster and master system. We're going to test this and see if it solves our clearance issues at the back on the intake manifold/plenum area. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Liam keen to see how the coating stuff goes, I need all my dump pipes, wastegates, manifolds, cats, intercooler piping etc done. When do you think you will have it on the dyno and all nice and hot?

Not until later this year, man. The guys at Hi Octane said that some of the shine can go from the silver coating like this if it gets extremely hot (i.e exhaust) and with that in mind they recommend their turbine coating, or the jet black one. I've had my cooler piping ceramic coated for years, though - nice and durable, shine never fades. The intake side of things won't be affected either, I shouldn't imagine. I'm hoping that the E85 and not leaning on it too much will keep it in good nick for quite a while Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cool, well I want everything done in the turbine/jet balck coating as I want to lean on it hard. I'll give them a bell. Cheers

Get a price for my exhaust manifold to Luke, it needs some heat treatment. The best they have in black of course. No show here. That brake booster will work too I reckon man, at worst case you might need to mod the bracket a little like we spoke about hey. Prepare yourself for a brake pedal feel like nothing else man.

You have vested interests in the booster working! You can kind of see the Maatouk-ification to the brake booster to clear the runners, on the edge just below the check valve... Chub is bending me up that bracket 10mm shorter, too.

Would I lie to some one about brakes???

Cheers mate A friend asked if they could use their new camera gear on the VL. It was the day before NYE, it was hot and I couldn't be bothered washing the car but it turns out it didn't matter anyway... pretty happy with how it photographs Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well, I did something and now it makes a noise. Not a good noise. Immediately after the photoshoot above we engaged in, what was in hindsight, a larger burnout than was necessary and we've broken something inside the diff - educated guesses point towards a chipped tooth somewhere. So I guess it's time to pay more bills Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I smashed up a set of 4.11s during the photoshoot above (in December) and didn't really find out until late January. Then I didn't really do anything about it until around two weeks ago, but it's all fixed now thanks to John Spinks and Chubby at Lowe Fabrications. Looking forward to driving it for the first time this year!

Haven't done much with this thing. I gave it a wash on the weekend and we ended up running some 98 through the fuel system to alleviate the headaches of letting it sit with E85 in the cell and lines. Some damage is already done, though. Our China 044s are cactus so we'll be redoing the fuel system - same cell, but modified to accept a twin pump cradle with submersible Walbros and a fuel level sender. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
