yep i did help me,just out of curiosity,do you run your drain from your catch can to your sump???

yes, In dash 12, positioned the can so the drain back almost has a verticle drop into the sump. and a fair bit of work where the drain fitting is in the sump to protect it from windage. Oh I also forgot to mention the cometic headgaskets for these motors have the oil drain holes punched about 1.5mm out of line so that restricts the oil drain even more...

Question: Do VK and VL share the same windscreen locking strips/moulds?

VK uses a rubber to hold the screen in, the VL is urethaned in

But the insert that goes in the vk calais seal ( the chrome pieces in vh sle or the black pieces in the vk calais) were they carried through to vl calais?

no, they dont use a trim to spread the rubber to retain the screen as it is urethaned in place, the top and bottom trims are flexable plastic/rubber and the side trims are wide plastic. my VK rubber that I use in my VL has no trim, the rubber is made in one piece to look like there is a trim, not sure if this is an aftermarket thing or OE

The hoses that plug into that vacuum switch thingy should have labels on them with the numbers (these match up to the numbers on the selector). But if you've lost the tags, just make sure the hose from the vacuum ball (inside the front bumper, driver's side), goes to the middle port (from memory). Then grab one of the other hoses, and try it in each port until you get the correct one. then do the same for all the rest.

you will find most cars after they are out of warranty and dont get serviced by dealers anymore almost never get the diff and gearbox oil done.. pays to do all fluids straight away when you buy an older car.

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
