With the interest sparked by a few of you i will be giving it some further consideration for 2013's event. However just 20 people wanting to come wont get the ball rolling just yet for me.
POLL's are very exciting yet prove absolutely nothing unfortunately. We did this for the last event. There were lots of people who could have, would have and should have been at the event or entered but unfortunately come race day they were no where to be seen. By all means i will watch with great interest if you wish to run one.
If you have a workshop, or business that would like to show interest in sponsoring a VLTNATS please PM me.
It was a good event, you were let down by people not showing up, as sad as it is to say this, if you held one in Vic again, same thing will happen, a few will turn up, most wont. Victoria is the home of the sook, its too wet, its too cold, its too far away. The list goes on.

03-07-12, 12:34 GMT+10#48 Thanks Jase. I do know this but probably more than likely for affordability unless some sponsors step up to the plate it will be held at a small track like Heathcote again. Those who came I'd say 99% had more than a great weekend of not just drag racing but as a community on CT it was a great opportunity to put username to face and also car and enjoy the enthusiasts company. Rail hail or shine we succeeded in the first vltnats no matter how big or small the event I'd hope it will happen again soon.

03-07-12, 13:19 GMT+10#49 No one will like this suggestion but Portland would be awesome.
Those guys can run a slick event, would take the pressure of any individuals trying to organise it, just decide what the classes and stipulations for each will be and they could run with it.
Closer for the SA boys and not to far for Victorians, awesome venue with a great view for spectators, and arguably the best prepped stickiest surface in the country, great place
1/8th is the go, gotta get with the times

10-09-12, 12:47 GMT+10#51 20k doesnt sound that bad when you break it up, say 5 major sponsors @ 2k and 10 minor sponsors with 1k contributions.
We could brainstorm a list of workshops/businesses to put a proposal to and someone intellectual could put together a bit of a letter or slide show or something to send out
Of course it would be hard to get anyone to commit on the basis of an event that is still in the expression of interest stage

10-09-12, 17:30 GMT+10#52 i agree with RB2GO - $20k isnt a lot of money - not a lot of capital to spend, if you set it up in a way, where you're guaranteed a return on your investment BEFORE you open the gates to the public. there is certain ways to do it, and make a good return on such a small investment.

10-09-12, 17:56 GMT+10#53 ^Maybe you should ring John Davison @ Easternats and let him know your formula

10-09-12, 18:43 GMT+10#54 PROGMH - Jon Davison is a smart man - we'll let him run his own business his own way. Plus, when you're talking an event as large and complex as the easternats, its an ENTIRELY different game, to this. Just compare the logistics of it.
If you're having a go at me, PM me, and i'll gladly pass on my mobile number, call me personally if you like.

10-09-12, 18:52 GMT+10#55 lol, what are you on about? I wasn't having a go at all. Easternats has lost money for years.

10-09-12, 19:09 GMT+10#56 why would it be thought that anyone would run any event or business, continously for years, and lose money every time? is the source information reliable?
lets think about how much more there is involved in running a easternats style event, and running a drag meet.
Look, lets not take away from anyones effort, and lets not steer too far away from this thread topic.
Peace Out.

10-09-12, 21:43 GMT+10#57 Here here. I'll do the work and have no issue just would like some commitment and backing an know it will happen before I spend 6-12mths organizing and working my butt off too no real financial gain for my time spent. however I can't do this without sort of committing time to the event before it's confirmed. I'm just not in the position to out lay the time just yet.

23-09-12, 15:46 GMT+10#60 Possibly a bad idea, possibly a good idea... How about setting up a paypal style account for dontations to the event? Everybodys leaves there details with the cash. If the event doesnt happen because theres not enough interest of money, peeps get there dollers back. Im sure lots of people would spare some $$$$ for a epic event.
