Caibs you re always a lord when it comes to know how and car info! I can't wait to see what turbo you select obsseshn, so many choices! Seems like you ve been doing bulk research...one day when I'm not a broke Uni student I'll be looking at turbo upgrades too! Lol

Lol bulk research is a understatement when your a car salesman you have way to much time on your hands i honestly think im going to go the kiniguwa im not going to go the bigger one for the 350+kw i was talking to a guy on sau who has run a few of there turbos and he reccomends the Kinugawa TD06SL2-20G w/ T3 V-Band Housing with 10cm rear housing. he reckons this will get me my 300kw and maybe a little more and i can keep it low mount. when i get bored of it i will sell it and go highmount and go bigger ---------- Post added 22-09-11 at 18:33 ---------- caibs yes they are journal bearing but that is not a issue for me

PS your old motor still hasn't been started!! the reason im thinking of going the kinuguwa is because i want to be different i have found the hypergear turbos tend to drop of after 5500rpm where all the dyno sheets i have seen with the kinuguwa they seem to hold boost to redline.maybe its because they are external gated rather than the internal gate are you serious my engine still has not been started far out. let me know how it goes when it does get started ---------- Post added 23-09-11 at 08:53 ---------- also guys forgot to mention whats the deal with wastegates how do you choose the right size gate for the application i have never had to choose a external gate before. i know i will need the right spring rate but what size

ok as you all know im trying to get the vl engineered with the rb25 after getting a yellow sticker. update on the engineering process. rang my engineer today to see what the hell is going on. he has requested i do a brake test and a tracking measurement. and a noise test which i knew was coming. im hoping emissions are not going to be asked of but i have a gut feeling they will

The shape of the curve looks good. How ever If you read the actual No.s those curve indicates, you find hypergear's SS2 or SS3 made more power through out the whole rev range till 6000RPMs on 98 purple then that on E85 with all those aftermarket gears. Feed the SS turbos with E85 juice . Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah but there is alot of hidden problems with the HG at the moment with heat and oil seals. and a mate of mine hs a ss2 on a r33 and is having boost creep. so id rather external gate. want to try something different ---------- Post added 27-09-11 at 20:59 ---------- im also not after a t67 im after the td06l2-20g bit more responsive than the t67 wont make as much power but has a kick ass torque figure on rb25s

Honestly you can never get heat or oil seal issues with any of our current released turbos. We kept our research project open to the public so every one can see different developing stages of certain turbos as well as their results. Some of the testing prototypes might have heat creeping issues, those provides important behavioral data from rb25det engine working with certain combination of wheels. these type of prototypes were never sold to the public. We built plenty of externally gated turbos including all SS series, external gates do have better boost control. There is only 1x SS2 ever built. It never boost creeped and not with your mate either. I’ve never minded seeing any one trailing different turbos. Please don't flame us on things that don't exist as you wish to try other alternatives.. As our development countinues, I'll do my best making our turbos produces the best possible results in the type of engine we use within the HP range we cover. Any way, looking forward to see your results.

thanks hypergear i was not blaming you and your turbos i was just going by the feedback i have heard from others. i was also unaware that your turbos had external gate options. i was lead to beleive that they were only internal gate

Cheers. Problems is when people choosing a bolton option and stay "road legal" and maintain "road legal" looks also means they are running large amount of factory gears. Factory gears are not made to satisfy a 500HP turbo, problem occurs the owners trys to push 500HP using those without realizing it. By our SAU thread for the few whom failed making power on the start all ended up making the average amount by fixing insufficient parts in their car. The turbo were not changed. That’s also when none OE turbos had the advantages as it requires total change over of every thing from stock. In my opinion if you are going for the Kinuguwa turbos then go for the T67 in 10cm rear. The TD06L-20G isn’t much more responsive in the 10cm rear and doesn't make much power either.

yeah i want to stay low mount however and adapt the wastegate to it thats why i was thinking the td06l2-20g. and your SS2 will produce more power and be more responsive?

hypergearArchived member
By comp size the TD06SL-2 is similar to the SS1PU, weither whats more responsive or not I will need to see more results. So far I haven't seen any other turbos made more power with better response then the SS1PU.

its so confusing i get so many different opinions my head is just going around in cirlces ---------- Post added 28-09-11 at 10:13 ---------- and a td06-25g wouldnt fit lowmount would it?

Generally you need aftermarket manifold, dump pipe, cooler outlet, intake pipe, water / oil lines, external gate and every thing else, which is a good thing interms of power making. How ever I haven't seen them sitting on stock manifold and running factory gears yet.

Engineering update engineer has requested a few things and RAC track has been booked for testing. a noise test has been requested, brake test and all my tracking measurements to try and get it engineered with 19's. soon to be on road all engineered and ready to go in about a months time
