10-06-11, 13:47 GMT+10#44 yes the hoon laws are harsh but really... if u do the right thing on the road then whats the issue?
unfortunately things have changed over the years and there are more d!ckheads out on the roads and the police have had to go and make these laws to keep other drivers safe. there is nothing worse than being out on a cruise with some friends and having a good time and some total wanker does something stupid resulting in an accident.. its happened to me to many times and im sick of it.
I also suport the drink driving and no licence drivers punishments. there would be nothing worse than some moron unlicenced or drunk writing off your car and because they dont have insurance it gets messy..
at the end of the day if you do the right thing then you wont have an issue, there is a time and place for everything. and if you are doing the right thing you can have your weekend cars and enjoy them. the police wont pick on you if they dont have a reason.

Only if that was true, that would be ok then but the thing is even if you're doing the right thing, you will still get hassled by the police soo much it is not even funny anymore. Last nite we just met up with a few mates at a servo near the united petrol station towards Chaddy, we were going to go bp to get some fuel and go for a nice little cruise and all of a sudden 2 cop cars pull into the servo block us off, fully inspect every car there, check everyone's license, write down everyone's names and license plates as if we were doing something wrong, then kept asking as what we were doing when we told them we just getting petrol they began questioning how much fuel we have left, are we here to drag race, are we here to watch drag racing, and a hell of a lot of other questions then at the end of it all they told us that they don't want to see us on the hwy again or we will get pulled over and fined :S. We did nothing wrong we were really nice to the coppers even had a bit of a chat with them after they said everything they had to say and yet they still hassled us and threatened us with fines...

Read this for a reality check re hooning type behaviour, it shows why laws like this are necessary and that no car is worth more or is better than a human life

A QUIET suburban street became the scene of a horrific car accident last night when a green P-plater lost control of his car and hit two door-to-door salesmen.
A witness, Zein Salhab, said a young male in a silver Lancer was driving at high speed up and down Edward Street, Bankstown, ''like a yo-yo'' about 5.30pm when he hit the two men, who were walking between houses selling electricity or gas. The two men were taken to hospital with critical injuries.
One was hit with such force that he was sent flying over a fence and landed about 15 metres away from the car.
''His leg was behind his head, there was lots of blood and screaming. I'll be very surprised if he survives,'' Mr Salhab said.
The driver of the vehicle had to be restrained because he was screaming at neighbours not to call police, he said.
The driver, who escaped without injury, is assisting police with inquiries.
Mr Salhab said residents had been campaigning for speed humps along Edward Street because young drivers constantly speed up and down the street on Friday and Saturday nights

really, honestly who cares
take a look on the road each day and night and you'll see Porsches, AMG Mercs, etc that are driven daily (thousands of expensive fast cars) that aren't at risk of being impounded/crushed/whatever simply because the owners/drivers have grown up and don't do stupid things and don't hang around known trouble spots to watch others: they have a life that doesn't include burnouts/racing/sliding etc etc on the road
they have families and don't appreciate idiots putting their lives and their wives and kids lives at risk by doing something they should do on a PS3 and not on the road. Esp when they try to justify it with absurd logic

12-06-11, 01:09 GMT+10#50 tonight i was driving to a frends 21st in port melbourne. on princess hwy going down, just before chapel st i got stuck at the lights on my right a p plater in a vx had a full car load n was eggin me on to race. on my left a car length behind was a undercover cop i was worried he was going to pull me over because my exhaust is dumped before the diff n loud as hell. the p plater took off n the cop went after him. ive noticed since i got my car on the road its obviously where u go n how u drive. i used to thrash my vz everywhere hwy, chapel, city i was askin for a defect n i got em every 3 weeks pretty much and lost a total of 36 points in 2 n half yrs. i regret all that sh*t cos i nearly killed myself n 2 mates one night when i lost control tryin to take a corner to fast sideways.
if u do drive sensible and dont go the hot spots u will be sweet.

12-06-11, 03:01 GMT+10#51 Thats pretty much it. I live in country vic and I can go down any number of completely deserted sealed roads and do skids until Im bored, and the police will never go down these types of roads as they wouldn't have any reason to. But when your driving in built up areas and you want to show off.. then risk getting busted - as this is where they'll be routinely checking. Only a absolute penis would give a car **** in full view these days..

most of the excuses would be gone but so would most of the revenue, it seems quite clear the government don't actually want to stop this type of driving on the street they just want to cash in on it and use the issue to create a smoke screen so that to the average brainwashed clown it appears they are doing something to cut the road toll when in reality they are doing **** all and failing miserably.
