24-04-11, 10:22 GMT+10#50 I went yesterday(Saturday), Worst Easternat's ever (I have been to the very first Easternat's & last Easternat's @ Sandown, Winton venue is not set up for spectators, no grand stand to sit with mates, hard to see what the hell was on the track, And the drive to far to Winton for South Eastern suburbs people. For $45.00 admittance I got to stand in gravel @ look at hillbillies wearing Bintang singlets!
And very few cars to admire, Best car there in my opinion was the underbonnet "Blown" big block 1967 silver Camaro.
And the white early Corolla with the RB30 jammed in was nice too, never saw it drive though.
I won't be going back to Easternat's next year if it's @ Winton.

24-04-11, 10:44 GMT+10#51 I agree winton wasnt very good at all. Some tough cars there though but the turnout didn't look anywhere near as good as sandown was.

Thats what I honestly thought it could potentially be like and Winton with its 2.5-3 hour trip is way to far to take a gamble on whether its going to be any good or not. Its a shame as Easternats at Sandown was a great event to have each year. I think the amount of pictures on here (absolutely zilch) compared to previous years is the true indicator of whether this event was a success or not in the eyes of the CT community, it appears the majority say its a fair flop.

24-04-11, 18:05 GMT+10#53 Worst bit for me, no grandstand for the crusing or for the street drags, I could see the cars going down the straight but some of my shorter mates could barely see anything over the concrete barrier. Was good, went today and yesterday, but unless im entering a car next year i will only be going one day, or maybe not at all.

24-04-11, 20:33 GMT+10#55 i went up saturday and went in a few mates cars the track officials were like nazis they didnt whant you doing burnouts in go to whoa you were not allowed to do them going back around the track after you completed it
getting a pitlane garage was pointless because you had to drive halfway around the place to get on the track
i think davo has something to think about this year maybe he should go and kiss the feet of the guys at sandown
but i did like the 15 min kids cruise i thought that was good

24-04-11, 20:35 GMT+10#56 just gotta agree with everyone else as theres no grand stands and very hard to see i ended up leaving early as my feet were fkd from standing all day and couldnt see much but there were a lot of very tuff cars there but the one that made my day would have to be your car PSIXTC it had the looks and the performance too and sounded amazing and was driven how its meant to be good job man made my day on saturday!!

24-04-11, 20:52 GMT+10#57 I'm going to go against the trend. I entered and I reckon it was great.
Entries and spectators were down, we all knew it would happen, its miles away. I got so much track time and there were no stopping or line ups... it was great.
The officials weren't that bad, I did some monster transbrake launches in the cruising and never got picked up... people were looping it around corners, smoking out straights and they wouldn't really bother you unless you were being ridiculous about it.
Camping was probably a highlight. It was a big boys weekend away and let's just say that each night was very entertaining. Great atmosphere.
It's easy to pick what's wrong with an event but not so easy to list the things that were great. I've entered at Sandown before and it's good as a spectator, but as an entrant there's so much wasted time lining up and doing walking pace on the track.
As for spectators at Winton, you can see the WHOLE track from almost any position... there's no spot you can't see! Who needs a grand stand to see one straight when you can see the whole track from wherever you want to be.
I'd re-enter. Thumbs up.

24-04-11, 21:07 GMT+10#58 As above, its easy to pick out the bad bits of the weekend, but as Brett said, you could see the entire track from almost any position. Yes, the stampede and street drags were hard to see with the concrete barriers and roped of areas, but as a total I think the viewing was pretty good.
Some seats or a grand stand would of been great for the events down in front of the pits.
I think the quality of the cars on the track was pretty good too, both saturday and today. Maybe not so many "big named" cars out, but still some very tough rides.
How'd your car go brett? Sounded very tough, looked like a bit of a handful once you stuck the boot into it, is that the first time you've had it out?

A 'handful' is an understatement. First time I've driven it, so need to get used to it... plus it's only on a really small tune so I'm going to have to learn fast haha.
