When it comes to conversions putting a ls1 in an early generation commodore is the way to go. I am currently pitting a ls1 in a vn similar to leb vlt and it is completely worth it. To those who are thinking about the conversion and are asking questions about starters and extracters as such. Everythings fits. Speak to an enginneer before doin something like this but the reality is everything can be retained in the vn the only catch is intead of a bick 6 or 5 litre sitting in the bay its a ls1. Just alloy some dough for the project and as they say you get what u pay for.

hey guys just a querie, i know a few have said u dont need the starter relocatin etc but i already have it, anyways my question, is the reason the starter is to be relocated generally is to clear the rack or to clear the pipes? if say u were going turbo so obviously starter isnt an issue. could u use std ls1 starter in std position?

yeah as long as you clear the steering, as the cross over pipe can go around the front, so no pipes at all on drivers side

yer il make the drivers side manifolds go either infront or under the balancer, so fitting the std ls1 starter in the std location shouldnt be any problems?

should be if it clears the rack.... if not you can get mini starters for fcuk all like $250 to you front door and have more power than the standard....

only reason i ask is that with the power id be making, cammed 42r etc, id think that having the relocaton plate would be a weak point would it not? last thing i wanna do is get everything finished set up done and have the converotr spaced etc and take it for lap, load it up and bang brand new convertor is laying in pieces Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ditch the cae mounts and get a set of "Tuff Mounts" the cae ones with 408 and 42 will last stuff all. they are on egay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TUFF-MOUNTS-G...em 3cb463d758 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TUFF-MOUNTS-GEN-3-LS1-VB-VS-COMMODORE-ENGINE-MOUNTS-/260724479832?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb463d758) I used to make similar ones for hilux conversions I used to do, but why make them when someone else has put in the effort. ---------- Post added 26-04-11 at 20:54 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by grunter01 [View Post] here is another one, $150 including postage to your door...... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....ht_706wt_ 905 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200601576569#ht_706wt_905) how are you going to go with room for a dump pipe? I cant see these ones lasting more than five seconds. ---------- Post added 26-04-11 at 20:59 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by grunter01 [View Post] everyone seems to be doing the same thing now lol.... will be good to see when they are all done, twin gt42s would be stupid but fun lol No twin 42s are just fun, direct port nitrous with that much power on tap is stupid. ---------- Post added 27-04-11 at 19:58 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by grunter01 [View Post] An ls3 is the same dimension as all of them.....
