31-01-11, 14:40 GMT+10#43 the 1jz will have a a340 behind it. you would have to be a goose to put a nissan box behind a toyota motor. MV automatics in south australia do a stage 2 a340 which is good to 980rwhp. i ran a 9.8 at 151 mph with one 3 years ago when the cressida weighed 3600 pounds off the foot brake. beauty is they have a lock up clutch so they are very streetable.

31-01-11, 22:46 GMT+10#45 Joe from Wollongong Automatics has built plenty of RE4s and Subaru Transmissions (Rigoli).
When fitting behind a Chev, he buys a semi completed JW Bellhousing and gets the base modified to suit the RE4.

01-02-11, 17:45 GMT+10#46 Is there a reserve manual valve body available for RE4R03A trans???
Also is it just a simple adaptor plate to get it behind a windsor or cleveland???

02-02-11, 02:30 GMT+10#47 We only do Forward Pattern Valve Bodies. Someone else does a Reverse Pattern Unit.
I'll get hold a Cleveland Bellhousing Wednesday and check whether a Ring will work.

02-02-11, 19:39 GMT+10#49 The th400 came factory with a transfer case. Is this the transfer case you use for the conversion? or is it weak or on the wrong side?

03-02-11, 00:17 GMT+10#50 We use Forward Pattern for 4 reasons:
At any speed you can upshift to get to Neutral- bang an engine etc
Engine Braking- Internal Sprags are supported by Clutch Packs
Allows for Lock Up Torque Converter
We have designed a Module that modifies Line Pressure and controls Lockup for more sedate city driving.
TH400 Factory Transfer Case (Suit New Process Transfer Cases) is far too different.
The Adaptor is not the problem, its machining the Billet PG Output Shaft from a Forging, then getting it Hardened. I'm trying to convince my US supplier that he should do this.

03-02-11, 19:06 GMT+10#51 If only I knew you were back in business before paying 5k for my last T400 Paul, no engine braking and reverse pattern Can you just change valve bodies on it for me and use the parts?

03-02-11, 20:26 GMT+10#52 Bummer,
Most RMV remove the 2nd Brake Band, apply Piston and block a Port.
I'm in QLD possibly next week, if you want to drag it out I'll bring the goodies. No charge- consider it repayment for past deeds.
Just confirming it is a Full Manual and not Transbrake?

03-02-11, 21:39 GMT+10#54 As far as I'm aware the RMVB doesn't offer Lock Up.
After several years in the Power Generation industry, the months away from home took there toll.
I enjoy the Automatics (I should see a Shrink) and will specialise in performance only and custom applications.
I cant be everywhere (I learnt that last time) so I have dealers in most states- still need someone in Sth QLD.

Indeed he is.
Paul I never got to thank you for your advice as you darted off to Perth where no one could find you So thank you.
Paul took time out of his very busy schedule to show me what to do to a th400 that can support ~800hp (and cost $150 to build) and did not want a cent off me. Nearly 4 years on and 80 odd 9 and 10 sec passes it still drives like the day i put it in. That is a cool guy
