Just a thought?
yeah I was going to go a proboost t70 as people are having good success with them but the front housing is ar70 so I'd have to lose the fuel tank, run a cell in the boot and mount the turbo sideways to have enough room..
With an ar50 turbo they fit in the rear muffler well beside the fuel tank, that's why im thinking a xr6t...
Kane... DO IT!
yeh im considering it, just grabbing bits and pieces as i go and doing it blow through on a mega budget
as for the exhaust, do u just weld the flange straight onto the exhaust? i dont have to have cats
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
yeah dude just a flange straight onto orig exhaust.
I have cats, they will just have pipes through them.
I'm doing mine on a mega budget as well man. Not looking for any massive power, just something to tinker with and have a bit of fun.
this is a garrett t4 on a dead stock 185i clubby, no intercooler, 9psi with a haltech and 60lb injectors it's making 325rwhp.
the tuner is confident with a cooler and water injection it will make 400 at 10psi

I recon a XR6T would be perfect, however the problem you might have is the standard internal gate might be too small, but honestly... Id stick it on and try it and you can be the ground breaker that actually has the first hand knowledge. I think we can all speculate.. but thats all it is, you really need to stick something on there and see first hand, is it too laggy, does it flow enough.
One thing I might add tho and you spoke about it before, if you have a turbo glowing down the back end of your car near the fuel tank, that would make me a tad scared lol.. and if your running a fuel cell then thats alright. Have you thought about getting two cat covertor guards that go between the cat and the floor plan and sticking one either side of the turbo? this will protect if from water and sh1t that flicks up under the car, and stop anything above your turbo melting but it would also keep the heat locked into the turbo and improve its response.
yep. ghettoest home made piping ever.

Yeah I've thought about the heat near fuel tank before morgz but as I said I'll be running a turbo beanie on it to keep heat in and also that silver heat shield stuff (that looks kinda like bubble wrap if u know what I mean) all around the turbo like between the turbs and boot floor and down the side of the fuel tank..
Also would be welding up the flap and running ext gate.
Also, I understand the vr v8 just have one intank pump? (havn't stuck my head under there yet.)
Can I just run that pump into my surgetank and then a bosch pump after the surgey as my primary or will the stock intank have too much pressure to act as a lift pump?
I'm not sure where the reg is for the older girls in regards to the tank. I know with VTish onwards the reg is in the tank and you need to cut a tube to disable it, that way it just acts as a volume pump not a high pressure pump.
I will have a look and see if I can find my bits on info on disabling the intank reg, I have a strange feeling that you could probably swap the internal pump for a Walbro intank and that would cover your fuel needs if you not going to run a surge. They are 600hp rated and I have seen at certain VY clubby that was turboed go 445rwkw with only a walbro intank and a set of 60lb injectors .....
If you wrap the turbo you will be fine, the exhaust loses most of its heat by then so I wouldnt worry to much. Then again you dont want fuel pissing onto it either...
I also doubt you will need much of a muffler behind the turbo. Maybe just one hotdog upstream of the turbo would do the job. Keep in mind the thing will sound like a fucking 747 everywhere you go even at low revs.
brad u crazy man, when you doing it and how much it looking to cost? i love your plan, stuff pigs, no fun getting pulled over and they ask you to pop bonnet
brad if u want a walbro intake i have one thats brand new for $140 posted if u want it, got it for a customer then "Horse ***** factory" talked **** to him saying it wouldnt fit, and they then put a "diffrent" walbro in there that fit.....

Do they fit in the VS/VR intank swirl pots? I'm not sure... but alot of VT S1 cars we replace with VT S2 or VX swirl pots to make them fit. I'm just wondering if this could be the go here.
