Check that your air filter isn't blocked Make sure there's no leaks between your AFM and the throttle body (make sure all your hose clamps are done up). any leaks may cause it to sputter and stall as the amount of air going into the motor won't be the same amount that the AFM is measuring (and therefore the ECU is not giving the correct amount of fuel). Make sure your oil is topped up (And take the cap off and see if you can see any sludge). Check your spark plugs aren't dirty (make sure it's all dry around the spark plug boots as well), and give them a test as well to make sure they're sparking properly. If your battery dies, make sure the alternator's charging properly (should be at least 12 volts but should be more around 13 plus), also make sure your battery is actually holding charge. And make sure your battery terminals are tight as well. Check that your radiator fluid is topped up too, and that there's no air locks in the system. If none of that helps, it could be the fuel filter's blocked, or possibly even the CAS (Crank Angle Sensor). Sam Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Chuck the pod as far as you can then go back to the standard airbox with a decent panel filter

No worries man, (be thankful that you're not my apprentice, I don't have much to teach ) So is it all going? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Quote: ^ Advice of the century. Pods really do look terrible on NA VL's lol and do nothing for performance or efficiency. at the moment im researching possible alternatives for a higher flowing and less restrictive airbox with a cold air intake to fit into a VL, at the moment im looking at possibly adapting one from a 244 Fiat Ducato van, but wanting to keep a plastic intake pipe to avoid heat soak.

Haven't driven it for over a month now Fuel system is getting re-done, its taking me a while tho as I haven't had much free time lately (not to mention its dark by the time i get home from work). So no, I don't go cruising much I wouldn't know how much performance difference, whether its very noticeable or not, my car had a pod filter on when I bought it. Sounds interesting, I'd be keen as long as it involves no butchering. What sort of gains can one expect from an air box modification? I've seen some rough hole saw jobs claiming a 3 to 8hp gain.

Sounds good, but from a Fiat? is that the only option? really? lol So long as it looks relatively good and actually does something for performance, your doing better than Pod Filters lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

looks like im taking out the pod filter sometime sooon then LOL i feel like a muppet now , thinking it would give it a bit of boost in power , that itd be easier for the engine to breath ahh well we live and learn !!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I don't understand what's wrong with pod filters? why would they make them as a 'performance' part if they are suppposedly worse than the stock ones?

think about it, where do they suck the air from? above your hot exhaust?

That would depend on where its placed though? not the fact that its a pod filter? What about a pod filter inside an airbox (one that is big enough to fit a pod inside)?

I think if you have a decent Pod in an Air Box they work good, so long as you clean and re-oil the filter at continuous intervals... I remember Steve saying on a post sometime back, if you have a cheap Pod it will have less restriction than a normal Panel Filter or decent Pod. Less restriction means it will allow more schit to enter your engine, and in the long run you can guess what that will do... If you have a cheap Pod on a Turbo?.....Goodluck lol
