why did you choose a vl?

I got my first VL Turbo when i was 17, My old man had a VL Turbo and I have to say there is nothing like the sound of the turbo spooling on a stock VL. One of the workshops he used to go to had a mock up calais for sale. I went for a drive in with my Dad, It was a marinello red manual SL. Few dings here and there, but that didn't matter because I was in love. Handed over the cash and that was that. While my Dad was trying to get into the 10 second zone I was learning how to drive. I had 2 accidents, one of them my fault because I was trying to get the heater onto the windscreen...... When I sold the car about 5 years ago it had a 3" stainless steel exhaust, ported & polished head with a crow cam, and no intercooler because back in those days they were still worth thousands of dollars. Since then I have owned a N/A berlina which I used as a runaround while my TT Soarer was getting fixed, And more recently I purchased a Turbo Berlina. Totally stock, and the turbo noise as the engine loads up in second gear.... I'm in love.

well i was always into datsuns owned and built 8 of them before i started building the vl. When i started a family and needed a larger car to build the vl was on top of my list i always had a soft spot for em since my mate that past away built a orange wagon, there easy to work on cheap parts and easy to make big power everything i wanted in a family cruiser Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I guess I was inmersed in the VL scene since my dad bought one. Never really thought much about them even with what fullsick said about her parents dropping her off at school in one of them, my mates thought the same thing with me and even one of my mates used to tell me: bet u can't wait to get ur Ps and drive it hey.... But yeah....I guess I can never see myself getting hooked on another car.

My mates car HIIPSI and petes JET88C,PSI30L,22INCH all got me into vls but when i seen original VLGOD back in the day "well my days anyway" ripping up WSID and running big numbers on a budget is what sold me too actually go out and buy one.But the one thing that has turned me off them is the road rules getting tighter and tighter and is why i keep blowing my cash on other stuff instead of the vl.

I was a massive import fan and couldn't afford one at the time.. I can't stand r31's and there was no way i was going to buy a ca s13. The vl looked the least bogan spec commo out of them all, plus it had the rb30. So i bought it just for the time being untill i got more cash. Being from S.A. theres not many vlt's around, I always thought every vl was a non turbo clapped out pos that was only good for single pegger skids. Soon got a shock when i joined up here and started watching some of the vids and going through the build threads. Then one night i got a call from pmac saying he just bought a vlct, He brought it around to show us and from then on i knew the vl had to be turbo asap. One night we decided to head out with some of the other members, Pretty much everyone had 300kw+ and there was powerskids everywhere. From then on i was sold and no longer wanted an import. Now im obsessed, broke and break my balls in the chase of 300kw+. Hopefully will pay off once its done within the next couple of months. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
