Exactly, when you are on one wage with kids/houseloan
and supporting everyone, its equal to making fark all when your single etc
Most young people are in for a shock, thats why the car scene demograph
is generally 18-26, after that you marry/have house/kids/are pov and ****ed.
The other thing he lives in adelaide, going by his sig, cost of living is cheaper here, 80k wage in sydney would go nowwhere, In adelaide 50K would be living on the poverty line with a average house loan/one wage/kids, there certainly would be no cars being done up it would be just the essentials, based on average loans and house prices

07-02-09, 15:57 GMT+10#47 the grant is worked out on last years tax return
upto 80k gets $950
80-90K gets $650 i think
90-100k gets $300
over 100k gets nothing
last year i earnt less than 40K so i will receive the full $950
if it went on this years pay then id just scrape in for the $300
also, this is apparently a tax rebate/concession thing, not just a handout
like the government has said, its not something they wanted to do, they HAVE to do it to try and not have a recession
yet multimillionaire turnbull wont back it

07-02-09, 21:07 GMT+10#52 950 will be minimal compared to the tax u and ur kids r gonna have to pay back when the libs get back in and fix the damage. most businees ppl can see that our economic situation is gonna get a lot worst yet, best to put the money away for when the recession does officially hit. my 2 cents

so the libs have "the answer"
do tell
using some of it to pay off a mortgage right now would be a worthwhile thing for most people to do
In the US a large part of the economic crisis is due to gradual deregulation of business and the financial sector: fewer checks and balances in place.
Major corps have then gone bust without the warnings that should have been received plus things like the Ponsi scam which has taken down people all over the world.
Corporate greed has led to much of the current problems: George Bush and his mates have so much to answer for re this
Obama is now trying to fix the mess he was left with, just like Rudd is over here

i was with you untill the last line. exactly what mess was rudd left with? if you're insinuating the liberals left rudd with a mess then thats just rediculous, they left him with a massive surplus and a boomtime economy, yes the GLOBAL economy fell soon after, but i dont understand how thats the liberals fault, or how labour would have avoided it. infact looking at labour in the past its lucky they had such a surplus, imagine if they had been in power for twelve years, the surplus would have been minimal because they like to throw money at everything and feed the ignorant, imagine then getting hit by a global finacial crisis, we wouldnt have this cash to fall back on.
