31-05-09, 09:37 GMT+10#42 Mate, there is one station in Melbourne that sells it.
United at 160 Old Geelong rd Hoppers Crossing. There is a lot of covert oppostion to it from the oil companies, so don't expect it at most servo's anytime soon. Also, people have been mis-informed to keep it out of the marketplace. Who else use's it apart from power hungry buggers like us ?

Hey Darren,
You are the man. Your experimentation with water injection and early research on 85 got me started. I'll be very interested to see the results when you get your beast on it.
Maybe nines in street trim will become a reality
Cheers,
Ron.
This video on E85 is very informative.

31-05-09, 13:33 GMT+10#46 There's a few DOHC's getting away with ~800cc injectors and a single o44 for ~350rwkw on E85. Most are running a GT30 and one is even running a .6 rear. :S
Backed up on a few different dynos. Willall, Boostworx and GrahamWests Mainline. All readouts were very close to each other despite 2 being DD and the other Mainline.
Maybe some tuners go way too rich with E85 when its really not required?
Would be interesting to see what afr your tuner settled on scaryride.

31-05-09, 14:59 GMT+10#47 I will have to ask what AFR and get back to you on that. All I know is that the car runs smoother than ever, pulls like a train, runs way cooler and doesn't spew carbon out the exhaust. A few drips of water on start up and that's about it.
350kw sounds fair on a healthy DOHC. 341 was made on SOHC and one 044 +Walbro intank. 35/40 may equal out the advantage of DOHC and disadvantage of a smaller turbo. Sounds like much of a muchness to me.
It seems to be a re-occuring theme that I'm overstating how much more fuel you'll use. As I've said... I don't know the exact figure. I am passing on what I've used in my situation. Why not get your car set up for it and try it. Once you've stopped shakin your head in disbelief and wiped the smile off your face. Then see if you still care about it being 30 or 50%. It'll be more like "Who gives' a f*ck. I love it"

Exactly some seem to need more injector some need less. I'm curious why. :P
E85 is no doubt awesome fuel. Such a pitty they dropped the sale of it here in SA. I'm now only able to get it via the drum.

Firstly Just out of interest the rb25's you talk of with e85 are all manual, and the rb30's are auto, so thats going to skew things a fair bit aswell.
My old setup would(wouda couda shouda..lol), run 9's on 98, i just needed to connect the transbrake back up ...lol and put the 1psi back in it i lost , the
joys of no track in s.a.
The new setup, i guess that will speak for itself novembish at heathcote hopefully.
Your setup would be a awesome streetcar scary, will be awesome to see what it will do on kill wound up, be torquey as **** on the street!
Get back to us on what lambda its tuned on, my tuner has tuned a heap of cars on e85 and they have all used 30 percent more so far, anymore and the power dives.
cheers

01-06-09, 08:35 GMT+10#50 Good point.. The auto especially if it has a stall will suck up a fair bit of that power readout.

No results on tuning details. Wouldn't be suprised if 400kw on E85 becomes as common as 300kw on 98 pump.

05-06-09, 21:20 GMT+10#52 Bah to the tuning secrets. There's no secrets to E85 WOT tuning. :P
Fair enough with boost build/transition, cam timing, light load, accel pump etc but wot tuning there's no secrets.
Its either too rich or its too lean when it comes to tuning E85.
With the static comp your most likely running with midish 300rwkw you can lean E85 right out and it will easily crack MTBT before it starts to det. Running E85 too rich is simply a waste of fuel and injector.
Also.. If your experiencing a few issues with cold start in Aussy weather get it back to the tuner as I've managed to iron out my own issues quite easily.

You are right though SLAPS. The car needs the cold start done. They don't like cold mornings much without it.

They have already made that in the states with supras with more left in them
and a fair few evo lancers have done the same.
Only a matter of time, theres would be a fair few gtrs around now that would do it with just a fuel system change, the joys of having money...lol

05-06-09, 23:56 GMT+10#56 Hey Ank,
If it's at Matouks it will probably find it too.
Darren,
That 8 second supra on e85(you tube) that goes for a cruise on the street is nice. Drives like an average car until he gives it stick.
Found this in 35/40 how much power you making.
below info submitted by the guy who had the car before me. Pretty good indicator of the difference between 85 and pump. The car has had money spent on it as well. CDI for one thing. Spewing, I thought the Arias pistons were 8.2 or 8.5 comp
gt3540 1.06 rear internal gated
small cam
7.8 comp
double valve spring stainless valves
haltec
pump fuel
low spark needs bit more so i need msd
full 3.5inch zorst
custom xtractors and plenum
288.7rwkw 21psi with more spark 300rwkw should c it thru
288.7 @21psi on 98pump to 341.6@23psi on e85 pump.
Also, ???? dyno for the 288 to accurate dyno on 341. My car would of made 400 at the same power on one particular dyno, without mentioning anyone.
120- 122mph 1/4 before 131.7mph best atm.

06-06-09, 12:33 GMT+10#57 Girch at LSX tuning, made and extra 70hp just buy swapping to E85 over C16. Its 402ci LSX motor, that was running GT35rs that had been tickled. I think it made 985rwhp on that or something. The car has gone 152mph @ 4180lbs.

Are you still running the .5 comp on the gt35 (xrt6 comp cover) or is it running the .7?

depending on motor type e85 does make more outright power and
higher detonation resistant than c16.
the mitsushi 4g63 motors stateside all make more power on e85 than c16,
the only thing that amke more power with them is methanol.

of the gun e85 tuners in the u.s with results to back it up so far

worlds fastest stock turbo evo, low 10's at 130mph on e85
Crispeed have also done a honda s2000 with a 2jz that has run 8.69 at 162mph on e85
