why the fck go dohc when the sohc setup will take you deep into the 8s? I wanted to keep the genuineness of the motor by retaining the single cam, and really man, the difference as i've explained before, on pump gas, would be minimal. However if you want to be a showy prick, then by all means, put the 26 head on it. But id rather have a built sohc over a standard 26. So thats what i did.

i like both ! but i do personally think a dohc will come on boost faster and being 4 valves per cylinder will flow alot more which =hp... all depends on the piggy bank and peoples dreams i guess though Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Maybe the twincam WOULD make more power, the point im making is who gives a flying ****? The difference in power would mean running a 9.80 vs a 9.75, and really, i think the biggest problem in running a good number would be the person driving. So why waste 10k+ building a 26 head properly (i dont do things in halves, standard is not an option) when you can just as fast with SOHC. Sure everyone can blab **** about efficiency and this and that, end of the day power is power, and i'll have enough to run a 9 with a sohc, thats quick enough for me thanks very much. And yeah fmx939 - sorry mate dont know your name - it will be run on pump gas at the drags, with a powerglide. Then i'm going to chuck a manual in it and run the show scene for a bit. im startin to think traction now..duz ne 1 know what r the biggest mt sliks ud be able to fit in the rear with out tubbing or rolling guards ect ?

fmx939Archived member
10 inch, just use larger springs in the rear. traction wont be a problem unless u r trying to get of the line with a spastic amount of rpm. traction with street tyres is a problem, but once your on a tyre that has the right rubber on it u stick to the track! just make sure ya spin them out of the water

ah ok ,would "street slicks" with the right tyre pressure grip and not spin with a 4k rpm trans launch? also what " are street slicks ?

i cant say, its alot to do with the track also, if its been prepped or how much heat is in it. u could run 15psi in them one night an then have to run 11psi the next. go on the mt website, its a street tyre which is mostly a slick. they r what i ran my 11.5 on, der good but ya way better of goin a full slick.
