I'm using efi. still not sure how to work it though as the fuel system in a vl is fairly different to the vy.

hey mate just wondering what clutch setup you used as my car is running but it doesn't go into gear. i think the slave cylinder is too small. how does yours work out? thanks mate

I used the VL six cyl master and holden T56 slave , pedal is a little high but no dramas . You MUST bleed the system correctly however as any air pockets will not allow the throw bearing to travel far enough . I used a brand new master also .

I'm fairly certain it was bled properly as it is was done by a mechanic. I'm using the same setup as you. I have installed the castlemaine adapter with the spaces on the t56 slave and i'm using a vl 6 cylinder master except its second hand and i have installed a exedy heavy duty brass button clutch. What happens with my car is it does not engage much/at all.

I didnt use the castlemain adapter , mine was from mal wood and had no spacers on the t56 slave ( have you got a pic of these spacers? ) i also use a holden clutch . Ive heard of your problem from two cars now , both times they resleeved the 6 cyl master cylinder to fit in a bigger piston as the t56 slave needs more fluid to move its for length of travel . Even when mine is hot on the track care is required to make sure it gets in the next gear . The only other thing that springs to mind is you havent correctly adjusted the rod from the clutch pedal to master. adam

Thanks mate! you've pretty much just confirmed what i thought. the adapter kit i used had the spacer plate in it, i'll try and resleeve my clutch master and see how i go. i greatly underestimated the financial side to this conversion lol but it was well worth doing! thanks again Rory

I wonder if they have added it to the later kits to help out with the throw issues ? . Hotbox any chance of a pic? , might be something i add at a later date. Lanks , getting the engine in is easy , getting it running legally is a whole different expensive ball game . Mine being a track car ( even though its regoed ) has heaps of parts missing that would be required if an engineer/rwc was required. itg057 , dale at castle hill exhaust is a gun with these conversions , mine fired up first try and is running spot on with his tune . Worst thing about the 6L is the expensive module required to convert the cam/crank triggers , 2nd is if your running the L78 cam/lifter/spring change along with other little things are a pain . adam

Yeah. I have not let my rego run out. If i didn't get my ls1 engine and transmission for 3500 i would have stuck with the turbo set up. Though now i've done this conversion i won't in back. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i am using the computer which was with the engine which is for the ls2 the E38 computer i think its called so all the cam/crank triggers will work fine with it and i just upsized the cam which i only done cam and valves and didnt need to do lifters they said i didnt need to maybe shed some light on it for me i got all the cam details if need i got it from comp cams they supplied me what i needed as i heard something about the lifters etc lanks i got rid of a 9 sec motor/setup to go v8 11 sec setup on the street they say once you got an 8 you wont go back to anything smaller hehe i like to know if thats true once i finish my car heheh Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If you plan on revving your motor hard or for extended period of time some comp 850's is good insurance. Its **** when you get it all going then a lifter starts to tick and gets noisy. Pushrods also like to flex a bit to. Its cheap insurance lifters and pushrods would be no more than $600 bucks. Only prob is you have to take the heads off to get at them.

But the car now scares me! Good work lanks , LS1 and the VL body doesnt put power down well at all . My daily is a VE SSV and im always surprised how well it grips . ITG 05z , yep E38 is perfect , they can be hard to get so well done . Pop over to LS1.com to check for all the info required when changing the cam on the L78 , it seems quite involved . adam Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Haven't updated this for ages and still get a few pm's asking for some current info . Car still has the same engine in it and has completed about 40 track days plus a few 6 hour regularity events . Still going strong and is still registered but will change to club permit at the start of next year . So been getting stuck into this lately as im changing to EFI for ****s and giggles , Sent dale my old loom which he is adding the injection loom too and sending it down with a fuel rail . After have a quick chat to justin (KE26wgn) ive ordered the filter/reg from summit along with the required fittings to make it work . LS6 manifold / throttle body and injectors from a VY ( i think) Grabbed a throttle cable from VX and some inlet manifold gaskets . Ive got the factory fuel line refitted and in the process of getting an undercar surge tank fabbed up to go with the 044 pump im getting for it . Manifold bolted down and cable fitted Side view , its sits far lower than the carb inlet manifold and is 12kg lighter than the old carb/manifold 3rd prototype of surge tank , maybe one more revision Should be all back together in about 3 weeks ready for sandown at the end of september . Im not sure if it will make anymore hp than the carb setup but will make more mid range torque no doubt , i can also lean on the tune far more as ive got better control over it . We ran the carby pretty fat when we set it up and took it easy with the timing . adam ---------- Post added 14-09-11 at 20:22 ---------- Quick vid from last calder meet this year . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lGxb...&feature=feedu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lGxbP50EwQ&feature=feedu) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
