10-04-08, 12:12 GMT+10#43 Hahahahhaha, yeah I reckon. Drum brakes suck harrrrrrd. And I'd say there probably isn't much meat left in them after one particular cruise......Adz knows what I'm on about! Ahh.....I got all my old Calais brakes bits out the other night, made sure there everything was still there.
I've got four calipers to choose from (two VL, two VN), so I'll pick the best bits and rebuild it with a PBR kit this weekend.

14-04-08, 10:55 GMT+10#44 And that was this weekend's effort....drum brake garbage stripped from diff, old standard springs out.
New springs are in, but they're too low for the factory shocks (springs pull away from their upper mounts when the shock fully extends = BAD). Still have to rebuild calipers and assemble hand brake gear.
Finished! Here is a) my rear calipers I've just finished rebuilding, and b) the whole disc diff assembled. And no, I couldn't be bothered spending hours cleaning the calipers and painting them. Or machining/replacing the discs...

15-04-08, 09:55 GMT+10#46 Thats the plan. Once its on the road, they'll be cleaned up within an hour of driving.
Next weekend will probably see the interior come out, in preparation for the Calais interior.
And when I get some more money (damn pay days being so far apart), I'll rebuild the front brakes, master cylinder, put some new lowered rear shocks in, and consider an adjustable panhard rod.

15-04-08, 19:32 GMT+10#48 I'd just prefer to keep the driveline as straight as possible, and keep any lateral movement away from the trailing arms.
Besides, I'd eventually like to stick some VE GTS 20"s under there.
I've no idea what these springs are either. They're low, I know that much. Guess I should check the tags. They're red, front and back.

Oh yeah, d*ckhead! I spent all that time assembling it, and didn't even think that what Billy said made fudge all sense. Unless it was Honda......
Oh, and update - rebuilt the front VLT calipers yesterday. Yee haw.....just have to rebuild the master cylinder and put some new rear shocks in, and then I'll be turning my attention to the motor......

26-04-08, 16:08 GMT+10#57 This was this afternoon's effort. Funds are a bit low at the mo, so while we wait for the new rear shocks in the mail and some more money, I did this:
Getting there...
Only thing that I wasn't happy about was that I had to remove the auxillary (air con) fan from in front of the condensor. I figured I'd have to do it anyway, but I plan on having functioning air con eventually. If anyone knows of a direct replacement unit that is alot thinner (like 3" max), please let me know.

At the moment waiting on money to get an adjustable panhard rod, and some new brake hoses (front ones are cracked, and I'm not going to risk it) - considering braided (haven't checked prices yet).
New rear shocks should arrive this week.
