Buy brand new control arms with ball joint and bushes already press fit in for about $170 a pair... Thats what I am doing this weekend and rebuilding the whole lot... If anyone has tried to seperate the the strut from the control arm via the balljoint you will understand where this kid is coming from... Its bloody hard work...

Yeah it's not easy removing them, ends up not being worth it in the end anyway IMO when you can just get another set.

yes i did replace the control arm and i wish i had just done it in the first place, if it dosnt come out with a few wacks, dont bother, just go get a new one! only costs $20-$25 and i dropped my control arm with the strut and installed the new control arm in a period of 10 minutes 10 minutes versus 2 days trying to get the thing off, i know what i would be doin again

Come on guys most of us did a few dodgie thing when we were young, its not cause we wanted to its just cause we didn't have a great wad of cash to do it 100% properly. GRK-WPN the problem is with a second hand control arm that its quality is unknown its probably come from the wreckers and god knows what its been through it might look good but it may have been in a big accident or the car may have been owned by some asian person who ran up gutters every day of the week. (we all know they can't drive). And if a ball joint fails your in big trouble so when possible replace the ball joint with a new one. I know what you mean about not being able to afford to do it properly, I did the same things when i was young cut the hell out of springs pulled out bump stops all the good stuff.

Man put in the hard yards in the thinking department now and try to avoid the TOTY award next year

mate i owned my calais turbo when i was 17 so dont give me that crap if you dont have the cash then you shouldnt own a car and anyway if your 16 dont think you really need a car to get to work or anything, im a mechanic and have never trusted a wreckers as there cars can site around for a long time the bushes go hard they seem to be good but there not and they pul apart ive seen it before Quote: Originally Posted by MMMM Maybe his wallet isn't as big as your mouth mate if this fails and he has a crash due to being on L 's and kills your family then your opinon would be different
